IS there any good PREPAID broadband internet service?

in NY.

Hope the speed is good!

EBAYBOMB 12-27-2010 07:47 PM

I am in SC and using Cricket broadband internet service. Speed is good, just what you need for stealth accounts, it gives you dynamic IP's every time you sign in. Not sure they have it in NY...

jeffweico 12-27-2010 09:25 PM

I agree, Cricket is excellent. They don't have coverage in NYC, but they DO have it available in some parts of the state, like Rochester and Syracuse.

Try Virgin Mobile Mifi.. Gives new ip everytime

what's the purpose of prepaid over postpaid? anonymity or no contract? you'll find the costs for contract or month to month are the same when you factor in costs of equipment

virgin works very well, basically sprint prepaid
verizon works very well
I'm not in crickets area, but others say it works very well

Hands down, it is avoiding the contracts. I want to be free to simply cancel a service if I don't want it any longer for whatever reason. I HATE being locked into a contract.

Service in your particular area can degrade, a competitor may come out with a better service, or whatever. I just like to have the freedom to cancel if I want to.

I agree no contracts are the best, I just recently got into a contract with verizion though cause got a offer I couldn't resist. FIOS thriple play package for only $70 a month. That was what i was paying for just phone and internet so now got all three + fios at same price couldn't resist. 2 year contract though

First Edition 12-28-2010 01:47 AM

cancellation fees from contracts result from discounts on equipment with post paid plans

prepaid plans often have no such discount

incniu 12-28-2010 11:09 AM

Will try it. Thanks

I used Broadband2Go USB Device from VIRGIN before; it is not good!

MIFI is better?

You lucky folx in the US with your selection ha.

First Edition 12-28-2010 01:17 PM

mifi is just the device

It's a small credit card sized black box that emits a wifi signal to attach multiple devices. It's available through many carriers. If you had a bad experience with the network before, it will be the same with the new device most likley.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if your IP changes everytime you log on wouldn't that throw a flag?

no cause theres still a decent percentage of the internet who uses dial up so there not just going to flag them all for that simple reason

incniu 12-30-2010 07:47 AM

but you always get an IP in your area

also very anonymous...

Ace717 12-31-2010 01:24 AM

So, is dialup the fool proof way to do eBay then!?

lakeman 12-31-2010 07:54 AM

incniu, That's not true. My iPhone's IP shows me in different states most of the time. My DSL has also shown me in a couple different states.

Yes Dialup is good, all though it's slow, it's a good method of getting new ips.

incniu 12-31-2010 10:24 AM

Which app you use for iphone?

Currently, my Sprint phone offers free tethering.... but slow.....

Thinking getting the Virgin MIFI..
