Default THREATENED/Harassed

Got an account on eBay, 100% legit and above board. No problems, nothing. I got an email from someone, never sold anything to them saying they've reported me to eBay and that I will end up in jail. All of their accusations are total lies. I've emailed email saying that I'm being harassed etc and that my account can be checked if needed to prove them wrong.

Will eBay ruin me?

I've done nothing.

Anyway of finding out the person and where they live etc?

Do a whois on his website he probably has his address hidden but worth a shot and contact him via his website email letting him know you do not appreciate being harassed and will take legal action if continued.

Thanks for the offer GB:D, I've found out a load of info. I checked out their registered business details, got his name, address and telephone number. Everything I do on eBay is above board and legitimate completely so I'll be taking legal action against him, hopefully for slander.

Thanks for all your help.

I have experienced this before on eBay and Amazon. It turned out to be a competitor trying to scare people away from listing in "THEIR" category.

My advice is to not reply at all. This person wants you to stop selling whatever it is you are selling. They could care less if your items are legitimate or not. You can NEVER win an argument with such a person since their goal is NOT to make sure only legitimate items are sold, but to eliminate the competition.

In my experience, most of the people who use this tactic are either scamming buyers out of their hard earned money, or are selling counterfeits.

Don't wallow in the mud with the pigs.

ok slander is verbal, this is written so libel.

ok we have 2 issues, if you write a formal letter to business address, you must be careful that they cant deny it, and say its not from them, someone impersonating them, and you need more than that to sue, did they email you from their user ID via ebay or directly, if so how did they get your email?

If you write, and say you will sue for libel, you must have evidence that that they have passed libellous info to another party. If you dont, all you can get them on is making a threat, which is actionable, but there are no third party witnesses, other than the emails, and given you are their competitor too, it could be YOU trying to frame them!

Are they or you a powerseller?

Document all corespondence

what has ebay said if anything?

I would personally tell them you have their details and will sue if you get further threats. I doubt they would actually get far reporting you anyway, if the goods are legit, after all you have supplier docs etc.

Some people just need to mind their own business, i do not, and will not waste my time arguing with fools, but if the person continues to reply to me over and over again even though i haven't given him/her a single response, thats when i will take action online, and that person won't like how it ends
