Can we use ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name to run own website?

I am wondered if it is ok to run your own website using bogus name, bogus details (but real address). Oh and can we use PO box address?

I mean in the case of selling cheap products (£1-£20), not an electronic stuff. just like gift shop. No aim to scam people but don't want to use real name, real info.

Is it good to go?

I don't know about Singapore, but in USA and Japan , if they catch you they'll terminate your hosting service.

If it's a legit site, how about making things easier for you and just do it normally?

Your suppose to use real info and if its a legit site no need to not use it, can just pay for whois guard to not show your information.

Is there any way to avoid your real name to be appear to customers e.g. using compny name instead?

I am a bit confused here because I am new to owning a website. I will register everything in real details but I don't want my real name to be appear on website. When they pay me, they will only see company name someting like that. is it possible?

Anyway, can you suggest where to read information (in summary) of what you will have to do to open your own website.
e.g.
step1: register with who
step 2: blah blah blah.

Now I have ready made website. but I don't know if I have to do anything to make it legal or sign up for anything?. or I can just start selling. that's all?

When you register a domain you have an option to block info for privacy. Then nobody can see any of the info

As far as what you show on site for your customers thats entirely up to you.

It is very easy to set up a domain and hosting under a different name. Best method:
Get a prepaid debit card and register it
Purchase the domain
Purchase hosting (and pay for a year)

I agree that the whois privacy blockers are easier if that suits your needs.

I have already had website (Domain, host) that I am still working on it. It's nearly done and should be ready to sell next month. I used my paypal to buy them (real info on paypal).

1 What should I do now to be able to block my info to everyone? Is it to late to do? or I can ask provider to block this for me?

2 what about return address. You have to show your return address on website. Or we can hide this and let buyers who want to return item know individually?

"1 What should I do now to be able to block my info to everyone?"
Again, turn on whois privacy. This is done on your CP of host [Some charge extra for it]
Thats it. Once you do that nobody can see the info. And you can edit your info on there as well. So if you want your address off there change it.

"2 what about return address. You have to show your return address on website. Or we can hide this and let buyers who want to return item know individually? "
Depends on what you use to accept payments. Some insist on the info being on site, some it doesn't need to be there. If you are using PayPal it doesn't need to be there

If someone wants to make a return they will just contact you

If your address is such a major concern, setup a PO box and use that for everything and be done with it

Thank you so much for your help :)
That's very clear.

We use buttloads of domains for SEO...Privacy guard is a scam - just make up a name, with billons of domains no one will know or care. They ask you to verify the name and address yearly for the icann check, but its via email.

GreenBean 01-15-2011 11:47 PM

Just be careful in case regulations are different in Singapore. What goes for the USa may be different elsewhere. :pop2:

maprod 01-16-2011 02:45 AM

What about in UK?

shenzhenthor 01-16-2011 10:04 AM

Good point - we don't want to hear about a caning.
