Experts please!

so my stealth acct is ready and waiting- im signing up for paypal now and i need to know----- can I just add the bank account/debit card for purchasing and selling? WHY would i need the VCC? What is the point/ Should I add both? Im going to start slow, to prolong or prevent limitation.

Also... on paypal... should the DOB be completely different or my real DOB? My real DOB is 9-20-84... i was going to make it 9-29-84 bbeing that the 9 is one key over from the 0, so i could say it was a typo if asked. But if im going to change it anyways, should i just make it something completely different? Or my real dob?

Someone please help because I need to sign up for paypal today to pay for some items!!

THANK YOU......

Sara

The point of adding both is to increase security on your account. Your DOB method seems fine - once you use it, don't change it.

I am sure other folx will comment later on.

Your questions kind of depend on what name you're using on the accounts. Completely made up name? Then the rest of the info doesn't matter, though you should have one of the banks that doesn't care what name deposits come in. Slight variation of your name? Then bank doesn't matter too much. For the credit card, you must have matching information or else ebay/paypal will kick it back and decline it, stating they couldn't authorize your card. For example, if the CC is in Sally Smith, 1234 Main St and you're registering as Mary Brown, 789 House St, it's not going to work. If that's the case, you won't be able to use that CC and you need to either get a prepaid or buy a VCC. I would recommend the first option.

DOB isn't too important. But the above stuff is what matters.

The name I am using has one letter different than my real name... i even asked my bank (US bank) if they would deny deposits if one letter was different and they said i should be fine). I just dont understand why stealth book and threads here talk about getting a VCC. I dont own a credit card because my credit sucks, but ive always just used my bank account and debit card on all previous accounts i had. never had a problem, unless they tried to withdraw fees and it was unsuccessful- then they would ask for a credit card. I think then i just entered in my paypal debit card number and it worked... i obviously wouldnt try that with a stealth account, but when i was all legal it didnt matter. I just dont get it i guess... is there a benefit for adding a VCC? o will the debit card work as long as theyre not after me for my fees aka i pay them on my own, on time?

Yes you are fine then. When I say credit card, I mean debit card interchangeably. Anything with a Visa/MC logo. You can use your debit card for the bank account you're using on PP but like I said, if the address doesn't match, it won't work.

I PMed you for the rest of the info you're asking about.

I see I see... both options are better than just one, so i will add the bank acct today and then add a VCC soon... i just need to work on paying my fees on time os i stay under the radar. ive always been bad at paying fees... i hate giving ebay my money. Im selling clothes--- first time listing on the stealth acct so im pretty excited, but im not sure how much is too much? I should definitely stay under 500 bucks right, in any given month?

veggiegymrat 02-10-2011 04:40 PM

You're limited to 10 items/month for the first 90 days. If you use Auctiva and schedule your listings to start at the same exact time, you can get away with a few more before they block future listings. If they're high ticket items, I would only list a couple. If they're run of the mill (not high end designer), you should be good. Also depends if they're new or used or a mix.

Thats ridiculous! I forgot about that!! About Auctiva--- do u know if its dangerous?? i still need to close my old auctiva account from my mc099 account. Need to go to a coffee shop or something. I was thinking of using inkfrog, something not owned by ebay.

veggiegymrat 02-10-2011 04:48 PM

ebay doesn't own auctiva. It's essential, IMO.
