Stealth accounts and income
 

Ok. I wasn't sure where to post this, and I couldn't find the answer anywhere. I have found some tax threads that got closed and this may be to. I apologize if this isn't acceptable. Ebay is supposed to start submitting tax forms to the IRS for any account that sells over $20k and 200 transactions. I know we are all happy to pay taxes. But if ebay is submitting the info on the accounts, won't it be wrong? What if the account info is real family and friends? I wouldn't want anybody's Grandma going to jail for tax evasion for a ebay account she did/didn't know about. lol. What if it's a stealth name? If ebay said you had $0 in sales and you say you have $100k in sales, what does that mean? Once again I am not asking about how to get around anything. I just didn't know what it would mean if numbers didn't match up. Sorry if this has been addressed somewhere or isn't allowed.

You can not talk about using Grandma's name without her knowledge. That's ID theft & has serious consequences. .

What this means is sellers need to carefully prepare accounts.
