Brand new laptop , dont want to get linked

I have a brand new lap top...Ive never connected it to the internet yet. I plan on blocking ALL adobe flash , clearing ALL cookies with CCleaner, using only firefox and opening ebay emails with gmail only...

I have MANY working accounts and none of them have been linked....I use different free ISP's (library, macdonalds, starbucks etc) and each have their own IP addresses.

My QUESTION is is that If I ALways clean my cookies can I use this laptop for ALL my different accounts and NOT get linked ???? Can Ebay see the physical address of my laptop ???

GreenBean 03-22-2011 01:10 AM

No, you can so not operate that way. Each account needs its own cookies. If you delete, then you will be running the risk of ebay/paypal not recognizing the account & asking you to verify again.

Define 'many' :spy:

make new user accounts on your laptop for each individual account. that is what you will have to do.

and... buy the stealth book. sounds like you could use it.

So ebay CANNOT see my computers physical address each time I use the same computer to log into ebay from seperate/different ISP/IP addresses?

So what Im understanding from you is that I CAN use the lap top to access all of my separate accounts as long as I use different ISP/IP address for each ebay account and use separate user accounts on my laptop for each ebay account...?

stevesokol21 03-22-2011 02:30 PM

yes that is correct

dannyboy11 03-22-2011 02:35 PM

I have to be honest with you, I have ALWAYS cleared my cookies and blocked flash cookies and always blocked ebays/paypal pictures from my gmail email.

I have never been forced to verify my info ....Im assuming because I use only 1 different IP/ISP per ebay account not multiple ips/isps per ebay account

stevesokol21 03-22-2011 02:57 PM

well even tho you may never have, it isnt good to erase cookies all of the time. thats a big no no.

jbluntz 03-22-2011 03:04 PM

You can get away with clearing cookies but you're at a higher risk of having to verify info a different user is better since you don't have to clear cookies, you can save your id and passwords in firefox, reduce the chances of messing up, and ip doesn't have to be the same as long as it's a new ip not used with another ebay.

dannyboy11 03-22-2011 04:07 PM

but dont the cookies tell ebay which computer is logging into their website ..regardless of different Ips or different accounts?

What cookies should I alllow? normal firefox web type cookies or adobe flash cookies? or both?

jbluntz 03-22-2011 04:25 PM

To ebay the cookies are your computer so different users is like different computers, you don't need to clear any type of cookie when using different users.

biggunn 03-23-2011 02:25 PM

Pardon my ignorance... I just find it hard to believe that the evil empire of ebay cannot tell when you are using 5 different accounts on the same computer but from different IP/ISP locations... Can't they see all the different cookies coming from 1 computer? Browser info, MAC addresses, and other computer hardware should be identifiers.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but it sounds like I can have 3 ebay accounts all on my 1 laptop. I just need to only log into 1 at Starbux, 1 at McDonalds, and 1 at the library....

Thanks in advance for the reply!

That's how ebay is set up, cookies don't leak between users, and they don't look for your mac or hardware, I've always had about 10 users never been linked, new ip, new user is all you need for ebay.
