Are all stealth accounts ticking time bombs?

When I think back to the days I had a 1000+ eBay account and had never been suspended (didn't know it existed back then :D). Same old, account was years old, everything verified and obviously all my real information. :hail:

I remeber deciding to start selling for real on eBay and got all excited, I was in love with eBay...maybe not PayPal (but who is? lol). Found AliExpress and DHGate for the first time...well you know where that went

Then I got limited with PayPal for high risk one day. Made endless mistakes that I cringe at now, opening new eBay accounts and getting VERO suspensions etc most built up to my suspension and most made it worse...sending in only some documents, not knowing what certain things meant, supplier info (was like wtf?), changing from personal to business account even though I wasn't a business yet, dropshipping and changing my location to China lol etc etc only to learn that eBay/PayPal's word is final.

Just like you lot I also learnt all the ways to stay in eBay/PayPals good books after getting suspended which is what annoys me the most.

But my biggest problem is that anxiety feeling that I get now that I never used to get but do now when listing items on stealth accounts, logging in when I wake up scared of a dreaded message from eBay:pry:, heart palpitation when I think I might link an account to a suspended account, having to open bank account after bank account, IP addresses...all superb advice and tips but when I compare it to my real eBay account I used to have  Different world!

I am only bringing this up because my friend seen me doing some of my rituals just to sell some items on eBay and he just signed into his real account and started listing normally and was like 'wtf!?' to me. He has never been suspended and thinks I am strange as he has never seen anyone be like this with eBay and PayPal.

:mad2: I had the urge to log into my suspended account at his house...smug f*cker :amen:

Yes.

Your friend's reaction is understandable. Despite tens of thousands of users being suspended, some with good reason and some not, most people believe it cannot happen to them until it does.

There are plenty of horror stories, here and elsewhere, about eBay shutting down sellers in a heartbeat, without so much as a warning. Easily in the tens of thousands. And for every person who posts about it, there must be a lot more who don't.

Can all of these people be scam artists and counterfeiters? Of course not. Sometimes all it takes is for a seller to trip some theoretical risk model. For example, let's say a new seller is looking to make some money on eBay. They find a niche product and build their sales. Their customers are happy and they are happy. But then their sales reach a certain threshold and PayPal decides their credit score is too low and that they pose an unacceptable risk. So their account is closed without warning.

The newly banned seller is dumbfounded. How could this happen? I had 100% positive feedback! What did I do wrong? I didn't even have a single customer complaint! But that, sadly is how they operate these days.

Some give up. Others find this forum and go stealth. Still others use family member's accounts (which is never a good idea) or try to buy someone else's real account. Some techniques work and some do not.

The bottom line is, even if you are 100% honest and your items are 100% authentic, even if you excel at customer service and have happy customers, you CAN be banned by eBay/PayPal.

I disagree with Jeff, are all stealth accounts ticking time bombs, No.
Like Gman said, think of it as a game, a game you can master and beat. You have to think like the maker of the game, in this case eb/pp. To understand the logic behind their risk model its quite simple, any google search on risk can give you an idea of what eb/pp look for. You avoid these pitfalls, you win.

The part Jeff didn't mention is that eb/pp need us just as much as we need them, otherwise NO STEALTH ACCOUNT could even be used on their website. They allow you to play the game, its up to you to beat it.:juggle:

the system

once you know the system you can beat the system, and this not only goes for ebay/paypal but everything

ShadyOne 04-13-2011 06:03 AM

Depends though because eBay and PayPal are changing all the time, new doors will open but maybe not for everyone :noidea:

Yeah, your right and the better you are at the game the longer you survive ;)

I still get nervous when I havn't logged into an eBay account in a while, dreading a red message!

:peace:

Make enough accounts and red messages come and go like the wind.

ShadyOne 04-13-2011 09:42 AM

Haha, makes me feel a lot happier and not so scared :thumb:

Depends how you operate them. :juggle:

From the replies it seems that abundance and efficiency seems to be the way to go with stealth accounts!

LOL - Now that's funny!!!

ShadyOne 04-18-2011 02:42 PM

Haha thanks, I'm glad someone noticed my joke, I put a lot of effort in that ;)

So do you think stealth accounts are 'ticking time bombs' then? :D

:peace:

GrannyT 04-18-2011 03:46 PM

No - we are dealing here with a system that assumes we are all imbeciles - and, sadly for the system, we are not. We have here a group of people who are determined to beat the system - the trouble is we have to be lucky every day, the system only has to be lucky once to spoil everything. Too many of the people here will f**k up what we are trying to do. It all depends how we treat what we create - it's up to us.

You know a lot more than you let on here. You are well named - you're shady and deep and you have my respect

u lok stoopid:doh:

oompaloompa 04-19-2011 02:59 PM

I personally believe there is no 100% infalliable account, you cannot always beat the system, you can have back-up accounts if one goes down and you can run your accounts smoothly and can not fall in to the catagory of high risk if you know what you are doing.

Very funny, I get the same feeling when I log into all my Amazon accounts. Sweating the dreaded "we need you SS/EIN" notice
