Saw this old thread , what is a socks server?

Think of it as a secure proxy server. It operates on another level than HTTP proxies though so it's safer and you can "socksify" your entire internet connection (mail, IM, etc). wikipedia

I haven't quite got my head round this yet, but are the connections shared?, possible to be linked to another person using same IP for Paypal?

I wouldn't do it. You're most likely to get limited for "suspicious access".

Yeah doesn't sound so secure to me I have to say.

I need a decent long-term overseas plan for multiple accounts. I have used VPN(purevpn) but that account ended up getting limited possibly due to the VPN.

The most failsafe option is VPS, affordable if you have say two accounts but if you have more than that then you need seperate VPS which aint cheap. They do give you about 5 ip addresses(the ones i used anyway) but the IP's are almost the same, concurring ie 11.22.33 then 11.22.34 etc.

Been scratching my head for a long time with this
