P aypal bank account problem

Right here goes, I set up a slealth eb & pp then I added a bank account to pp the name was a stealth name and different to my actual bank account name as in the stealth guide. It was a new bank account, today the 2 deposits go in fine but then I get a email off pp that says:
Dear *****,

On , we attempted to transfer *from your bank account, ending in ****. This transfer was returned by your bank on ** Apr 2011 for the reason below:

This is an invalid bank account number.

As a result, this bank account has been disabled from your P**P** account. Please contact your bank for more information or add a new bank account. Please do not contact PayPal because this is entirely an issue between the account holder and their bank.

Yours sincerely,

P**P**
so I tried to add it again and it said this bank account is disabled from this pp account if you still wish to use it with this pp fax a statement with the 2 deposits pp put in and a copy of your driving licence... But hold on they say above that the bank account number is wrong are they taking the piss? Any one have any idea what I did wrong and how I can get round it, the eb account isn't linked to this pp as yet but does have the same details and email address,

Coldcotes 04-21-2011 08:33 AM

The other thing was that pp never said they where taking deposits FROM my bank just putting 2 deposits IN....

GreenBean 04-21-2011 08:42 AM

What type of account did you use? I suspect you may have used a savings account? What bank?

I recommend using an current account. This allows the direct debit mandate to exist & enables paypal to work

I'm confused about what you said about the name for the bank account: that name should be in your real name not stealth.

paypal take out 2 amounts from a bank account and deposit them into your paypal account. Just tricky silly words by paypal.

Coldcotes 04-21-2011 08:50 AM

Hi the bank account is a Natwest first reserve savings account in my real name the pp stealth is same 1st name dif last name. They def deposited 2 amounts in to the account as they said they would, on thinking about it I might of been hasty when I set it up with pp as it was the day after I had set up the bank account online. I have used the same type of account before in the past ok. I will try the fax docs and see what goes....

GreenBean 04-21-2011 08:51 AM

Right. Fingers crossed you sort it quickly. Natwest are a good bank. :pop2:

Coldcotes 05-09-2011 02:44 AM

Well I faxed the info and pp let me add the bank again but it was refused as above, it said 'On , we attempted to transfer *from your bank account, ending in ****. This transfer was returned by your bank on ****** 2011 for the reason below:

This is an invalid bank account number."

I didn't even know they where trying to TAKE money out only that they would deposit money IN. any way I verified it before they removed it so it's a verified pp with no bank account at the moment. Any one know what's going on???

ShadyOne 05-09-2011 03:15 AM

^^ Have you put any money in the First Reserve account since you opened it?

Check your account online and make sure it is still open. I think it needs at least £1 before it is activated.

Coldcotes 05-09-2011 06:19 AM

Hi Shady yes it had cash in it at the moment. :( also pp's 2 amounts went in to it ok but the withdrawal they tried didn't work even tho they never actually said they where going to take owt out

ShadyOne 05-09-2011 06:42 AM

Must be because the First Reserve is a savings account.

Open a NatWest Step account, it is a current account and can be opened online in seconds, subject to acceptance that is.

Hi all - me with the 'thick' questions again!

I'm about to go stealth for real (having gone stealth with my boy's details :hail:)

OK, so now I have opened a Bank Account in my real name (Joe Bloggs) - check

Open ebay and paypal in a slight variation to my name (Joseph Boggs) - check

Paypal verify the account because the bank in theory will accept the 2 small amounts even though PayPal have sent them to my account number but the name is slightly different.

Have I got this correct? I hope that this will be the last of my obtuse questions and I will be happily stealthing away problem free :juggle:

ShadyOne 05-09-2011 04:00 PM

^^ Yes that is it. It is fairly simple really, just as long as you are using a bank account with a direct debit mandate and that your banks is not 'fussed' at payments coming in under different names. Most banks are fine.

You better get teaching your boy stealth as well.

:D

Cheers Slim for the confirmation. Like I have said in so many posts - too over paranoid I think but now I have it all logged.

Cheers for your help  and all of the other people on here too :D

I created 2 stealt acc. One with little similar information about me and second with more diffrent. I add my 2 real bank acc each for one pp acc. The bank acc are on my real data. I withdraw money from both pp and have no problem. I think now I'm full stealth :D

rsot 05-12-2011 04:00 PM

Excellent so far - nazdrowie

ShadyOne 05-12-2011 05:24 PM

I tested the Natwest First Reserve today, it got booted the same day I added it, same message as you Coldcotes.

So do what I said and open some basic current accounts with natwest. They are perrrrrfecttt. :thumb:

Daz 05-12-2011 05:47 PM

went into natwest branch a couple of weeks ago and they confirmed no savings accoutns will work with direct debits, do as shady suggested and open step current accounts, they work fine with verification.

savings accs can be added for withdrawal purposes only, but NOT to set up direct debit to verify acc, that HAS to be a current account

ShadyOne 05-12-2011 06:19 PM

^^ That is the way to play the savers ;)
