Default DoB

Guys,

One of my accounts, registered in early 2000's, belonged to my grandpa (who has passed away). I mean, I used his info to register.

The account is still active and very strong. 7000+ feedbacks, no complaints, good DSR's.

But my concern is that the registration info belongs to someone born early last century (which would turn 90 in a couple of years). Can this sole fact raise a red flag despite the excellent status of the account or the DoB doesn't really matter?

I mean, could they be suspicious because of very old person using the site?

Strange question, I know, but don't forget who are we dealing with.

Thanks!

Be careful - some of us are not too young - don't see why it should

LOL. I meant that my grandpa was very very old. Couldn't that be suspicious for them? I think that if it was, it would be actually discrimination, but at this point I don't know what to think about what's on their minds.

These forums are plenty of scary stories.

Of course you could use it. He would be still using it if he was still alive

Might raise suspicions if you break the world record for oldest living person (little joke to lift the mood) :D

Take your time with this account because with 7000+ feedback and with it being from early 2000's, it could be a real gem!

Good luck kryunn.

Do they even HAVE his date of birth? In the US, the credit bureaus usually have your month and year of birth on file, but that does not extend to anyoine outside the USA.

But, even if there IS a database they could get it from, I doubt they would cancel an account based on that alone. Maybe if he came up as being 122 years old or something, or the database showed him as deceasd, but a lot of people live to be 90.

Now, if they are looking at the account because they are suspicious, then MAYBE it would be one factor they would consider.

All in all, I think you will be OK, at least for now.

I am using my grandma's info and shes pretty old, so i used a different DOB making her alot younger, due to the items I plan to sell. Does this matter?

Will matter if they ask you for your ID to verify account under limitations. Then you would have to provide the ID - if just SSN, i don't think it would affect too much.

Do they ask for ID alot? If so is it too late to change the DOB. Not sure what to do. Got the guide today, but doesn't say much about DOB.

^ They do ask for ID, in the grand scheme of things, eBay do not ask for it as much as PayPal will. Be prepared for an ID etc request.

I would say it is too late to change the DOB, more to do with if you gave the same DOB to eBay and PayPal. Doesn't mean it could never be changed but I don't think they would let it go. In fact I could see a possibe ID request if you did this on the account(s).

I would personally just carry on with the account as it is.

Seems like the best option would be to let it age. Any comments?

Of course it's better to let it age but keep it ACTIVE.

Yes keeping accounts active is far more important that just leaving accounts age. I never leave an account to "age" but I always keep my accounts active in some way or other.

@dreb, I wrote my last post thinking you were the OP. Anyway, just wanted to know why you are planning on changing your DOB?

edit: got my answer couple more posts up shady!

@Shikimaru17 What death?

I think I will keep the DOB to avoid a red flag.

^ He is talking to the OP.

Hijacking a thread does not officially make it yours

Could be a problem if they ask for SSN.
