Are you aware of EverCookies?

Hi

I just accidentally found lots of warnings about "evercookies" - They are ever-changing format Java based cookies.

I do not like the sound of these - anyone have a removal tool for these?
Just tried to add an add-on in FF but my version didnt support it, so Im off to do another search.

You should be fine as long as you sperate your ebay accounts across user accounts on your computer.

Cookies are stored locally for that specific browser.

With evercookies, once you attempt to get rid of them, they reappear under another name. Sort of like us in stealth ;)

And then it will become the never-ending story to remove the evercookies and you will need an Engeriser Bunny to help you. ;)

If you go off and start adding a bit of this, a bit of that etc, you are doing potentially harm in the long run.

Pay heed to Master Shady-One. Create the user accounts to seperate accounts.

Now if this was aspkin, talking about evercookies, I would be screaming Holy Batman. We know they exist. The protocols aspkin recommends suffice for stealth at this moment.

Dont forget, aspkin is constantly mixing batches of cookies to make sure stealth runs OK.:peace:

Schneier on Security: Evercookies

it says;

A combination of FlashBlock and perhaps RequestPolicy, combined with caching set to 0 and a block on the ever cookie creator domain results in no ever cookies being successfully set on FF 3.6.10 on RHEL 5.4

If I don't block the domain cookie creation then just a standard cookie is created.

If you want to get rid of evercookies I suggest you try some add-ons like betterprivacy and askforsanitise, and block java console too on FF...

2 opinions on this - thing is browsers do leak to seperate user screens, we know this from some forum reports, google chrome not a good idea as a browser, I think FF is best. Some forumers block flash or uninstall flash from their ebay/pp browser...I think standard cookies are fine and stay on user screen, but I think other stuff could leak..but an expert opinion would be helpful.

@NotAHappyBuddy, Just follow shadys advice and use different user accounts and you should never have to worry about cookies :thumb:

here's what i do...

I use a different user account for each eby+ppl account. I also change my ip before logging into a new user account. Furthermore, I have several routers...all labeled with particular eby accnt names. After logging off a user account (NOT switch user), I unplug (power) my high speed modem, open the user account, then run the LAN connection cable to the router that is specific to the user account/eby ppl account I'm using. Then I plug my modem back in, wait a minute, then check my IP. Cross reference it with all IP's that ever came up and then I use firefox to login. After checking my ip I clear my cookies and history too...so there is no trace for EB/PP seeing that I'm checking my IP before every login.

I have comprised a spreadsheet (as suggested in the stealth ebook) and can send to whoever wants it. keeping track of all the user names, associated IP's etc....really helps to not make my head spin.

It's a lengthy routine but it works for me. I'd rather be over cautious than under cautious. Down time is simply too expensive for me.
Cheers!

I should mention I also visit:
Adobe - Flash Player : Settings Manager - Website Storage Settings panel

and I "delete all sites" after logging out of EB/PP. Then the cycle starts again.

^^ Why clear cookies and delete the flash files though?

Imakemoney 05-11-2011 05:38 PM

yeah deleting cookies is not necessarily a good thing when operating stealth on ebay.

They sometimes like to be able to see cookies present - if always deleted can prompt them to ask for docs.
