'Fertilising' a new account

I opened up a couple of new accounts recently and in order to get some beacons and cookies in place I searched out some newly listed items that were at a low start and placed bids on them. Obviously I have no chance of winning these but it does put a bit of action on the account before I start selling after about 4 weeks. Does anyone else do this?

Yeah its always good to have some activity on an account.

I belive it is better than just letting it sit there idle - My trick is if you arent going to be browsing on the account reguarly before you start to list (such as the first 30 days) make sure you watch some items in myebay that dont end for quite a while.

This means that the account appears to be in use to ebays bots and limits the chances
of cutting the account down for being inactive.

And as you state entering bids and getting browsing history is also another good way of making the account appear active.

I used to think it was important but nah I dont bother with this. Makes no difference imo.

I guess we have differing opinions then

Only action you need to worry about is winning I would say. Some people believe in browsing to show activity but my experience with this is not so relevant.

Having read so many horror stories it's just something I prefer to do. I'm sure as ShadyOne says it is a waste of time but as I always play a long game and it's never imperative for me to list I just feel comfortable within myself doing it.

One of my ST accounts is now 10 months old with 600+ 100% FB and I think that's because I'm paranoid and look for problems before they come up.

Time for a chicken feed one ShadyOne:D

No, I understood what you said Money and I believe that activity is important, like we said about PayPal. :typing:

But what I think is irrelevant is spending time and effort in intentionally building a browsing history. If browsing history is at any time needed in stealth, it would be within the small percentage of important factors. I think the biggest factors of stealth should have most thought and time spent on them.

As I have mentioned before, eBay have their polices and procedures in place to control us eBay users, a level of browsing history has no consequence in their decisions.

I do this too just for the heck of it.... Only takes a few minutes here and there and cant hurt....
