Australian anti-money laundering law
 

Hi, Once your balance on paypal account in Australia reaches $1000, you need to pass identity check because of anti-money laundering laws.

Usually the ask me to fax in ID and bill etc. This time they are asking previous address and passport number. I can not provide these as this is stealth account. Should I give them stealth previous address and tell them that I lost my passport?

Would the then ask me to fax in ID or do I face suspension?


Any help would be appreciated...

Move on to a new account, because you'll just be wasting your time.

Doesn't ebay have paypal alternatives for Australian members? I'd recommend looking into those.

Make up what you need.

Saying "I lost my passport" will not work.

Firstly, never offer your passport EVER. paypal have no dratted right to ask for that. Not every one has a passport in any case.:pop2:

Make a phone call to the ATO. You do not have to give your name. Ask THEM specically what they want for compliance with this law.

Now, you are going to find out that the ATO has different requirements from paypal. Find out what ATO say. Then go back to paypal & say whatever the ATO said. Let paypal know you are happliy compling with the request & I'm doing that etc etc.
