SSN when selling 20K items but stealth name???
 

I may get asked for SSN soon for taxes purposes being close to the 20k sales mark. However, using a stealth name and address, do I give my real SSN #? Obviously my real name is different from the stealth name. I don't know what to do :rant:

Make multiple paypal accounts, and split your sales between them.

Thanks that's a good idea, but we do about 500k in sales a year so that wouldn't really be feasible. Any other thoughts?

If you intend to pump 500k through a pp account, you would need to provide whatever info they ask for including SSN. Sadly, not much choice.

rsot is right! But.... If you are selling legit items on ebay and can provide Paypal all the

documentations where you got your items from, then best bet would be is to pay someone

good money to use their info to create the legit account, then you would have a SSN. But

this comes at a high price, I know people willing to sell their identity for about 5-10k :)

If you are doing that much sales then you should already have a TIN. EIN and should already be a full blown business. Just file taxes as you should to begin with or someone will just turn you in and you will have to pay more.

you start avoiding tax on that much and you are looking at big problems. Really I have seen it before locally many times.

With that much business i would just turn it legit and pay up. you will still make a killing.
