one day auctions, yay or nay?

Title says it all, how do you guys feel about using one day auctions vs. 3+?

GrannyT 06-09-2011 07:44 AM

EB don't like them unless it is in the motors section. You pays your money and you takes your chances

Giardino 06-09-2011 07:52 AM

Are you saying EB as in ebay? Why would they care?

GrannyT 06-09-2011 08:04 AM

One day auctions have been a favourite of VERO and ⊗⊗⊗⊗ sellers for a long time. They figure they have a chance of getting in and out before Ebay spot them. I can't tell you if it works or not as I've never sold ⊗⊗⊗⊗ and I've never sold VERO. Ebay certainly know it goes on and so one day auctions get looked at.

If you are squeeky clean and your item is non-contencious then I can't see it being a problem. Personally I don't like getting looked at.

Be like the duck - all smooth and calm on the surface and all the activity going on underneath where no one can see it - works for me

I only do 1 day auctions and rarely run into problems.

GreenBean 06-09-2011 08:54 AM

Qualify that with what category, age of account & those extras, bballaw1, to give an idea of their suitability.

New accounts I dont bother. Aged accounts, from Thanksgiving Day onwards, I do one day auctions. For me, it depends on the season as to type of listings. :pop2:

I actually post in jewelry(high risk), have 8 accounts running that do the same, and all are 4+ months old.

I usually mix in 1 BIN auction on each a month, which lists for 3 days but thats it. I think most of all I'm too cheap and don't want to pay fees for listing longer auctions lol.

GreenBean 06-09-2011 09:10 AM

Nice, very nice. It's good to hear perspectives, good to hear what works & what might not work.
Beat ebay ! Yeah! :pop2:

rsot 06-09-2011 09:16 AM

All depends on the category and item too - what are you selling?

I mix sh*t up - 1 day, 3 day, 365 day - whatever - goes well but again, I don't do Ve ro stuff...yet.

Giardino 06-09-2011 09:20 AM

See the whole concept of vero stupid in the first place. So you are saying if I go out and buy a product at the store, I am not allowed to resell it even if I havent even opened it yet?

rsot 06-09-2011 10:17 AM

I have but it depends on the product.

Imakemoney 06-09-2011 12:54 PM

I would steer clear of them on new accounts.

On new accounts in the UK you cant even list products in certain categories on 1 day auctions.

Afterall too your bound to get less visibility which can undoubtedley mean a lower selling price.

I like one day auctions, though 3 day BIN&BO is my favourite for many popular items.
