new bank acc name error

hi

I have just opened a new current account and all the docs and bank card/cheque book have slightly misspelled my surname (missed out one letter).
Now I have phoned them today - stated my name and even the employee didn't catch it - so do you think I should just plead ignorance and let it be?
I was hoping to use this error to create a new surname for pp & eb.

Thank you all in advance

I would not worry about it much - I actually have a bank account that has my last name truncated. Now I do not use my name for stealths but the slight error is nothing.

hi
i needed to ring them due to a problem with card verification - just said my real name, she also said it back to me a few times correctly.

So I shouldnt use this name as stealth name?

thanks

Using it for stealth is not the problem - the problem is whether you are breaking the law by operating a financial account on false details. While I readily accept that it is the banks mistake and not your intent there is a possibility that some interfering nerd of a law enforcement officer may accuse you of money laundering because YOU knew the details were not correct.

Sounds pedantic I know but you need to know the possible consequences - not certain - just possible - if you go down this route

I can see where this thread is going!

Do the right thing.

u just said game on! :D

Didn't realise it was in sub sec.

The final decision should always be yours with things like this.

But for me any issues would come back to the bank for making a mistake when opening the account.

Just move on to the next step.
