Does ebay flag based on starting price?

I was just wondering after getting a few accounts limited because of pending verification if there was a possibility that eBay's bots will auto-suspend you if you list an item on a new count with a starting bid or BIN over X dollars?

If I have a popular item I want to sell but it seems to risque, I will usually put it in a different yet similar category so eBay wont give me the "these items need to be listed this way" crap. Should I start doing that AND starting them lower?

Business model type of question - I will hold my tongue on this ha - all about the %.

Interesting point - I start my first listings at 99p and if need be get one of my children to put a bid on to get it going. I guess I think it must raise flags. I listed a piece of furniture a week ago on a 99p start and it sold recently for over £750. Money is in and I will draw it down after the 21 day hold comes off

Dont they release holds after the buyer receives the item?

GrannyT 06-13-2011 12:04 PM

I'm not sure. I've never had holds before. But hey, 21 days - it could be a lot worse - they could make you wait three weeks.

:P

I suppose your right, and this is my first stealth account that actually looks like I'll get my first stealth sale too :D :D

Seriously though, I don't think the price per say gets you flagged. It's a question of product vs. profit.

Example:

High risk vero + BIN x 1 day = !
Highly sought after item non-vero + BIN at a price that's ridiculously low = semi flag BUT you do this for 10-15 times, someone catches on and !

Risk analysis principles.

Well that's why if I sell vero I will switch categories but stiLl be in the same general category tree so I avoid ebay's bots stopping the auction before it starts

Yea I see these BIN with a crazy low price and 20-30 sales just pisses me off. Why cut so far below everyone else and leave so much profit on the table. My reasoning is that its a ⊗⊗⊗⊗.... I bet ebay would do the same.

Giardino 06-13-2011 07:04 PM

I never use BIN for any of my stuff unless my account is well established and even then I wont even undercut, ill just put my price at the same price as the lowest one listed :juggle:
