I cannot believe it - I've just had someone try to scam me:

I purchased an item from your ebay store but i can't make the payment through paypal. It seams that listing has been removed. Can you check it out? Here is the auction link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk.

They headed the email with FULL details of one of my items.

I'm too old a cat to be f****d by a kitten but I can well believe some less experienced would fall for it. The link took me to a spoof EB sign in page that was linked to a free ftp site called ftp.drivehq.com

Be careful out there stealthers - it's not just EB and PP who want to screw us over

that is scary!
I have had similar spoof emails in the past, saying why havent i shipped their item and they will report me to eb, but it has been something like a $1000 laptop or similar, but it is unnerving when they use specific item details!

Even the spoof ppal emails have gotten more sohpisticate dlately, when they have been using the actual name i am registered with, rather than "dear ppal user", saying i need to log in to avoid acc being suspended etc!

The scammers seem to be getting more and more sohpisticated!

Yeah have seen this kind of e-mails before.

Also be careful of the ones that say "You bid on XXXX and have won it - log-in to make payment" or something like that.

The only person allowed to take GTran's $ is me =)

Yeah, I tend to follow the rule of only going to the site direct, using tabs in my browser etc especially with stealth. Don't want no bad habits!

But can see how some will fall for this stuff.

I got this email a few weeks ago. Keep in mind I havent sold anything in a year or so...

My account would be a gold mind to resell though!

Email went straight to spam after being forwarded by google

What you say to him?!

I emailed him back and said not to be a silly boy. He then emailed me and said sorry - how daft is that? Turns out he's an Eastern European living in France. He hasn't replied to my last message.

I got some bogus paypal skype payment notifications, on a couple of accounts.

Also I got a few winning bidders, I have come back from Iraq/Im disabled blah.. can you send goods now and I will send cheque straight away...

What???? That is just so unbelievable - do they think we are all mad? They would have to get up early to get one over on most stealthers wouldn't they?:doh:
