DIAL UP or Mobile Broadband??? WHich one and why??

Whats up guys...just have a question maybe some people could give suggestions or reviews...Trying to decide if I want to save a lil money and get dial up service or just go ahead and get pre-paid mobile broadband usb card...what service companies would you recommend for either or?

Well, I might be biased since I live in an area where all the cell companies test new stuff.

I'd avoid dial up, it will drive you up the wall.

If you live in a major metropolitan area, look up verizon 4G lte. With 3 bars I get faster speeds than I was getting with comcast xfinity before I switched to fios.

Option two would be tmobile since they seem to be the only company that offers prepaid 4G laptop/usb cards that are affordable and still give excellent speed.

Finally, if you can't get either of those, look up which cell provider has the best coverage in your area and see if they offer cheap prepaid 3G cards. I'm using an atnt 3G as a backup myself.

Dial-up is slow as fug - go for broadband whenever you can.

Mobile broadband is a good option. Especially if you are used to fast internet speed.

I use att DHL. ITs a dream for IP changes. Just have to restart the computer. Gives a new on every time. no problems.

Hi OP.
I reckon if you go for dial-up, it is going to do your head in as it is real slow and you wont have fun using it.

If you can get the funds, mobile broadband is a preferred option.

I am in the UK so I dont know about the services in your country. If u were here, I would recommend 3 network mobile broadband - get cheap credit of eb, load the phone and convert to mobile broadband - everytime you connect you get a new ip

I use dial-up and now dynamic ip - and an old static ip provider so I jazz things up when I can.

CLEAR seems pretty cheap if its in your area. I use dial up. Its really not that bad for me at least. Takes an extra few seconds to load up but for amazon its amazing.

I also have CLEAR which is very nice an I have 2 other IPs in my house, all for the sake on amazon ONLY.

So many accounts so little IPs...

If you can afford it then go broadband... If you want cheap then go dial-up. I use dial-up often and once cookies are stored from eb and pp then actually its not that so bad things that are on the site everyday load up pretty quick. The slowest process is actually connecting. I usually update my excel sheet during the dial in process. Once I'm done with the data entry I'm online.

^ hey... I do same... I update my excel when my pc is busy doing something... nice 1

, its not just the cookies that are helping speed things up. Pictures and other little things are stored on your pc (if you dont 'clean up'), so when you load a page, it does not have to download all the pictures, instead loads them from your pc - one benefit of having different windows users and not clearing out - good stuff.'

I am starting to understand why some people have dialup alongside broadband - handy and cheapish - I may join ya :)

Thanks for all the input guys...Im looking into Verizon 4GLTE...does it need to be pre-paid? Well what I mean is if you get the Verizon 4GLTE you can get the card for free with 2 year contract instead of paying over $200 for the usb card alone with pre-paid...Is it safe to get a contract or is pre-paid the way you wanna go?

I use a three dongle with a cheap data sim from ebay, it gives a new IP address when disconnected and then reconnected for each different user account

I have pre-paid and contracts. All is well.

Mobile all the way

happycustomer 07-05-2011 03:19 AM

tmobile 4g is great I think, the prepaid device is $60 and only $30 a month for up to 1 GB. If I use the device only for ebay Ide think 1 GB is more than enough... Cheap and fast.

thanks for all the replies guys...I went with the Verizon 4GLTE...should be coming in the mail tomorrow...Can't wait for my new toy!
