Firefox 5.0 what to do is it safe to use?

Is it safe to upgrade to the new firefox 5.0 or should i just keep using the older one i am using now.

GrannyT 06-24-2011 12:13 PM

I love Firefox - I'm currently running 4 and I don't think it will hurt to keep running 4 until 5 has been around for a few weeks. Just my opinion - if it aint broke, don't mend it

boszika 06-26-2011 10:10 AM

I updated. Really I dont see the difference.

But Chrome is safer and faster.

nak 06-27-2011 07:24 PM

Chrome is the wort browser google records everything they said it themselves!

unkown5454 06-28-2011 10:46 PM

IE9 suckaz...and Opera is pretty solid.

Littlemorestealth 06-29-2011 02:04 AM

Chrome has translate and seems to have a better resolution?

GreenBean 06-29-2011 02:19 AM

Made this a sticky.....

What is happening about the supposed 'leaks'? Will this new version of FireFox be better?

tbf, I'm using FF 3.xxx on a treasured account.

Then I take pills and wear a tin foil hat too :yar:

GrannyT 06-29-2011 02:19 AM

Mine automatically updated to Firefox 5 - all good (cannot see any difference TBH)
:pop2:

Imakemoney 06-29-2011 06:05 AM

Im also in FF 5 gang - no problems :fight:

boszika 06-29-2011 11:48 AM

FF crashes my computer constantly. Also most of my friends. No particular reason, just crashes.
Chrome never did that as of yet. For stealth Im pretty sure Chrome is not a good idea but personal use it is great. Plus it is faster.

oompaloompa 06-29-2011 12:39 PM

if you use add-ons then it is best to update, as they can sometimes stop working/ conflict otherwise..

I dont use chrome, it tends to take over links and applications....

Imakemoney 06-29-2011 12:53 PM

I find Chrome slower than FF.

poofay 06-29-2011 01:10 PM

From what I've read on tech blogs, Firefox 5.0 is more like Firefox 4.1, and the jump to 5 was mostly a ruse to get more publicity. Firefox 5 was supposed to fix "some" memory leaks, but users are still stating that the browser is using 1.5 gb - 2gb Ram with only a few pages open during the day.

Personally, I love Chrome! It's fast, lightweight, and simple. I do switch back and forth between Firefox and Chrome on my VM's when making ghost accounts, but for my regular browsing I use Chrome's Canary build. If you're a Chrome enthusiast like me you should check it out! The Canary build is where they test new features before the mainstream gets them. However, it's not even considered a beta build so it crashes quite a bit.

In regards to Stealth and Ghost accounts, Firefox 5.0 should be a stable upgrade, and your plugins shouldn't break because it's more like a jump from 4.0 to 4.1 than to a radical new version of the browser. Most of the new features are for developers than for the public. Like more CSS, HTML 5, an Javascript support.

America Online SUCKAZ! 56K FTW!

BiN4RY 06-29-2011 09:36 PM

It's just a matter of time before a browser flamewar breaks out in this thread lol

yellow0102 07-01-2011 05:25 PM

I like Chrome and IE9

Gamefreak 07-09-2011 10:44 PM

Chrome FTW. I never use a new browser when it comes out. Let the hackers get the major flaws out first then I hop on board.

jjohnson777 07-10-2011 05:18 PM

Firefox 5 does not crash unlike Firefox 4. So if have 4 upgrade if crashes daily. If have 3 keep it until must upgrade. Even though getting use to 5.

Axcend 07-10-2011 05:56 PM

I switched to firefox from IE6 back in 2004 or so. Never looked back since. Never had problems either unless I had way too many add-ons lol

rsot 07-11-2011 09:38 AM

Simmer down 'Dino ha. I use IE7 sometimes IE8 on the other computer. Think I have an old version of Firefox - I seem to like the older editions.

livelifewild 07-15-2011 03:24 PM

Ive been using it on several stealth accounts havent had a problem. Also tho I do have seperate users on computer so I know that helps...
I also downloaded an add on for user agents and such....I switch to internet explorer on some that works out fine as well.

NoSmile 08-24-2011 07:31 AM

I like chorme and firefox 5. wow

EGYfromhell 08-24-2011 08:01 AM

Firefox is much safer us for so many reasons, it has its own certificates and better privacy is amazing and its good to erase most of the internet traces.

Opera, has it own certificates but the privacy is too low since its connected to IE certificates.

Chrome. Very bad for us, it relay on IE certificates and no privacy at all.

ovidiu 08-26-2011 01:32 AM

Firefox will probably never get all the memory leaks fixed. Just have to live with it and restart browser every so often. Though you can have more tabs open in firefox for the same footprint as versus IE or Opera.

GenuineCorruption 08-27-2011 10:34 PM

If it wasn't for linking prevention I would never use firefox, for personal use I hate it. It refuses to run YouTube videos and crashes when I try to install the Flash plugin. FF isn't what it used to be.

jtaverner76 08-28-2011 10:45 PM

Using FireFox 6.0. I trust this browser the most as it's open source.

omace97 04-30-2012 02:01 AM

HurricaneHuntr 06-14-2012 11:31 AM

i still use better privacy.

newjerseymax 07-19-2012 03:09 AM

I use separate user accounts and still noticed traces from one user account to another... Via ipburger was showing my IP's from other user accounts from different windows users... Pretty freaky stuff.
