What are the benifits of these accounts. Tried looking it up but did not really find anything

Used be they were gold.

there's an inherent risk that ebay will ask for ID.

Cant understand why, but ebay got strange about all these old accounts coming to life. They impose the ID checks to make sure such accounts are not hijacked.

YEAH it might be a bit risking buying a old account cause the seller probably never used the account, and it might be a flag for ebay.:doh:

No benefit at all. I have one and its just as much of a mess as any new one.

The BS people speak of is just old news as paypal and ebay have changed too much. plus like they said, they see a dormant account spring to life, their bots will throw bells and whistles like a pinball machine or a slot machine that just won a jackpot. lol

I guess from a buyers perspective it could feel safer as it seems you have been in business for years, so some trust factor comes into play.

Still good accounts if you have one to use though, just treat it as you would a new account.

Key thing is going SLOWLY when you first spring it back into life I think and steer clear from high risk items as you would on a new account.
