My fathers account got limited because of me
 

Okay, so I recently got limited, then a few months later my fathers acct got limited, he was using the same address and phone number.

Now, I assume that once you are limited you stay limited, even if you arnt the direct culprit, but just thought I would see if anyone else had this problem. I assume my dad has to go stealth but I have a question - let's say we moved and then someone moved into our place and opened up a paypal account, how would paypal respond to that? How does paypal recognise that it is a new person?

Now, my dad hadn't sent in any info, and he does own another place which he rents out, so he can put that as the new address and put his own PO box as a postal address, link phone numb to mobile, but just wondering - when you get limited does paypal place your details into different areas? Such as if you were limited due to actually selling stuff and that sort of thing, and then if you were limited just becuase you lived in the same household as another person who was banned?

I don't suppose paypal cares, but just thought I'd ask...

These questions are the money kicker. If you want to set up new accounts, change your names a bit and go all fresh and new - IP, phone number, address, etc.

You seem to understand the concept well so yes, don`t risk playing with old info.

You need to appear to be a completely new person. As mentioned, change all your old info, follow the stealth principles.

Please DONT use your father as an excuse to make a new account.

Get your father to attempt to remove his limitation. It may work, it may not.

Dont be using your father's name again.

Make your own stealth account. Leave home and leave your father alone ;)

I messed up my sisters name and address before I learned stealth, I could not get her details reinstated, fortunately when she moved it was ok, and she could re-register, but I learnt my lesson....keep business and family/friends seperate...if your dad wants an account to use, he can go mildly stealth, particularly if its just for buying, a variation of real address on cleaned up PC and new cards should be ok...

I wasnt using my dads acct, but I had two ebay accts, one acct got suspended, and then couple of months later they closed down my paypal acct, then months later closed down my dads.

I didn't know that if ebay got limited then paypal got limited, knew nothing about this stuff till now, wouldn't have endangered my dads acct if I knew what I knew now.

Anyways, I am going strealth, and my dad only uses his 3 times a year or so, so he will just have to use mine, but it is annoying that they just cancel the acct just because it has similar info. But I guess that's paypal for you...

Anyway, I put this in the USA forum to attract more replies and just see what other people had done if they had been suspended just for being linked to family, and not themselves doing anything wrong...
