PO Boxes

Quick question regarding PO Boxes

I just opened one up at my local USPS and im wondering what the best way to use it is. As far as how to use the address

This is the way they told me to send mail:

PO Box ***
********, ID *****-****

What should I do to get around that?

I was thinking to use the post office location and on the second line write "Ste ***" for the box number.

Suggestions?

Exactly - that works well Vadim - your idea about Ste. or even B.

rsot- Using the post office address? I am going to try a few different combinations and send them out and see if they get delivered just to make sure. Thanks

Yes using the post office address. But your method of trying-to-confirm is wise - send out some letters and see what arrives. Very good field testing.

Im a bit confused as to why change from address PO Box? I contacted ebay about a year ago and asked them if I could use a PO Box and they said absolutely ok to use. Have been using since. What is the factor in not using a PO box?

rsot- Thanks :) I recall reading this on the forums a while back and its just been at the back of my mind. Thanks to whoever posted it.

newjerseymax - Really? It just seems way safer to just use something like this..

140 Main St (usps address)
# ***(po box)
City, State *****-****

That looks excellent if you ask me ^

I sent out 3 letters and im going to see what happens at the end of the week then I will get a few accounts up and running.

What about the names though, are you using your real name?

Im just wondering what the benefit is? Id rather not mess with USPS cause that would be where Federal Crime comes into play...

Vadim 06-28-2011 01:42 PM

Im not messing with USPS ^
How did you get that from my post? Maybe theres a misunderstanding.

Im going to just be using a business name. with EIN etc. But as far as my real name im going to change my last name up a little bit because it is unique and just go from there. Amazon doesnt require a name on the account holder so that will be no problem.

All I am doing is trying to make it so eBay doesnt think I have a PO box because that shoots red flags, same with PayPal. Make sense? PO Box is legit in my name.

rsot 06-28-2011 02:34 PM

There really is no problem with using po boxes except that - the way I see it - if you get limited or someone flags your file, you can be d*mn sure that it's going to be trouble for documentation to lift it.

I won't go more into this but think about why...pretty simple since pp can see plainly that it's a po box.

Vadim 06-28-2011 04:03 PM

What do you mean someone flags your file? Regarding ebay/paypal or USPS?

Yeah PP can see its a P.O box so thats why you really need to try and avoid the limitation at all costs, even then just have a backup address if anything. Shouldn't be too tough though.

Who here is using a PO box for their paypal info?

rsot 06-28-2011 04:09 PM

Eb ay/pa yp al primarily - not too concerned with USPS unless your activities are very VERY illegal.

Not me, there's plenty of mom and pop mailbox rentals out there.

I know a lot of businesses that use PO Box.... It just makes sense to me. Most of the bills I get have a return address PO Box. Why would Donald Trump get his business mail at home?

I also use my PO box to get my credit card, Utility bills and other invoices. I really don't see why using a PO Box would increase risk and raise flags? I have not read every thread, but why is it higher risk? I could see if its a personal account maybe. I am not arguing, just curious....:pop2:

I totally agree ^

And no everything is legitimate. I am against illegitimate things, I believe you should still pay all your fees and treat each customer the same regardless. A good businessman should do that regardless. I just want to spread out my sales and also increase them at the same time.
