No those are virgin mobile, tracphone's a waste of money you have to pay to change the number and Amex you can get those at any local store like Walmart etc.

As for the Amex card, I received a few as incentive for whatever - the reason I ask is because from what I have tried online, I can't register any details on those Amex gift cards....but they work well? =) prethanks for the answers

$15 plus a $10 topup card = $25 each plus free unlimited number change.

tacfone's are $10 each with 20 free minutes plus $10 for each additional number change.

I'll let you do the math on that and no you can't register amex, they still work though.

You must be way out in the country or something, yes they are "pickup-able" just like you see in the first post, I got 2 stores a block down the street that sell them 7-11 and right-aid all within walking (bike riding) distance.

@MichaelW - assuming you speak of the Vanilla Visa - I believe it's 25 + 3.95 activation fee minimum, not reloadable. Other folx will def correct me if I am wrong.

Actually you're both right, they have 1 for $20-$500 + $4.95 activation and 1 for $25 + $3.95 activation.

Here lately i say 2 out of 5 amex cards i use on paypal wont work on that Pp dont know why it is but it say it can not be verfied. U can use the same card on another paypal and %90 of the times it will work. But if it dosent work the 2nd time thats it u cant use it again on paypal cause it will pop up a box saying in order to use this card u have to call Pp customer service. I had seen a few cases where vanillas would'nt work on Pp with the same problems.

U can use the same card on another pa yp al - won't that give you the message already used with another pp user?

Yeah I got mine at Walmart for about the same price then went back and got another one later, keep 1 in my backpack and 1 at home, only thing I don't like is it doesn't have a firewire hookup :/

No cause it was never technly verfied on the first paypal cause they declined it said it was no good.

Just wanted to say that in my area, at least, Walgreens STILL has the sale going on where the virgin phones I am currently using are only $9.99 each. I've been going daily and getting 3-4 phones this way.

They only allow 2 per customer supposedly, but the high school kids who work the register don't really care in my area.

Yea, Wally just upgraded them too for the summer. New ones have new processor, front facing camera, and some other minor upgrades for the same $298. Don't remember seeing any firewire upgrade. The laptop is so cheap so they don't expect anyone to be making big moves on that thing haha.

I keep mine in an all purpose zipper bag and put colored stickers on the back to id each one and also to add any ebay/paypal info if needed.

I have mine labeled with labels i printed from my dymo.

I have them all velcro'd to my desk in order and all charging :P

I got my phone yesterday, activated. And ive already changed my number :-) I did it nearly 4 hours ago. How long does the process usually take before you can use the phone again?

When I try to make a call, it says "Your call could not be validated"

The Am ex gift card is a headache for my pa yp al fyi - did not accept it after several tries.

That's odd, so far they've worked everytime for me, I've used at least a dozen of them, the only thing I don't like about them is the expuse takes 2-3 days to show up : /

Time to try again - I was reflecting on it and these particular Am ex gift cards are in Canadian funds and issued as an incentive promo thing...could be the problem.

yeah if they dont work then u will have to use it on another paypal or use a new amex and after 2 trys they wont let u use the card again w/o calling them.

usely takes about 24 hours for the code to show up for me

Thanks to the OP for this tip. Picked up 5 phones from rite-aid and walgreens. They did not care how many I bought at one time.

This tip saves me $450 a month that I used to spend on forwarded numbers. I think I owe a commish to the OP.

Tip for number changing. Once you change your phone number on the website you need to re-activate your phone from phone menu. I figured it automatically does it, nope! Waited 24 hours still could not call my new numbers, re-activated my new phones from the phone menu and BOOM all could receive calls on the new numbers. Silly me.
