Urghhh Ebay & the danger of letting friends touch accounts
 

My 8 year old ebay account with 900+ top rated power seller account has been closed by ebay today never had a negative and selling 100+ legit items and only 1 vero item

email from ebay to adv closed due to
1) use of stock photos
2) private listings

makes you laugh, going to open new stealth account and sell all vero items :clap::clap:

bad day in the office for you then.

Best thing to do is operate lots of different stealth accounts so when you get shut down your other accounts can take the slack so your selling doesnt get hit too hard.

I would contact them and try and appeal though it does sound quite a harsh reasoning for shutting it down.

So you made your listings private? im sure many people on the forum do this and have had no problems.

What exactly did they say in regards the private listings? All my listings are private, not due to Vero just privacy for the buyer (nothing dirty, just items some people may be embarrassed about)

If having your listings private was a bad thing, why would eBay even offer that? I use it as a courtesy to my buyers. Just like with anything on the internet, you can get spam from anything, this as well. Granted, it probably doesnt happen as much, atleast I've never been spammed on eBay. But I'm sure it gets done. Thats crazy.:doh:

There is more to this that you are not seeing. what are your DSR's like? Not just the number but how many 1's and 2's listed on your dashboard?

The feedback isnt much of an account killer any more becuase you get slammed with other things before that can get bad really.

What do you sell? without disclosing too much. You may not think they are risky items yourself. That is another thing that usually is the case.

Also what exactly did the email say, That explanation is no reason to completely suspend you. Definitely appeal but please list more info on here so you can be helped. That is really messed up and there has to be an explanation more than what you posted. good luck.

If that's the case, I'd offer to use my own photos each time and make my listings public in the appeal. Sorry this happened to you

My DSRs are all 4.89 - 5.00. Everything is sent sameday for items paid for by 4pm, mainly chicken hatching eggs :shocked: yes eggs get posted! not scrambled,

I rang ebay the lady did not know why trust & safety had closed my account but said I could not speak to them on the phone and I had to contact them by email, which I did, I had a general email back saying that listing with stock photos does not comply with copyright / trademark infrigements and could cause financial loss to ebay and ebay customers and due to all listings being private. Will try and copy the email over, but I am on a different IP address / user acc at mo.
I should not really be surprised this acc went down, I meant to add previously that I had 4 other accounts that a friend used last year for vero items which got suspended, ebay kept this acc up and running but closed the others down, just unsure why it took them a further 9 months to close my business account down, hey ho, start again, two new up and running.

Yep, better to just start moving on to a new account, while they string you along to reopen the 900+ account. The good thing is you can stick them for the Ebay fees.

Yeah, you have to show us those details from the beginning. I knew something else was up here.

That is a very common case where they close it at a later date. Just start over as you will not get that account back. Start with the Stealth book before you go any further. Just an FYI.

Still worth appealing - maybe get a brief suspension if anything - use live chat, use e-mails, keep at it - don't let this friend shut you down again I guess.

It's still worth fighting for the account. The more suspensions and issues you can successfully deal with, the stronger the account will be in the future. That's not to say it can't go down though.
