Chance of being linked thro' postage tracking numbers

Hi

I was posting multiple parcels for a couple of eb acc'ts, some of them were recorded delivery. I gave eb the tracking info for one parcel, then when I went to do the same for another, I realised that the tracking numbers were only 1 number apart. So, I decided not to give eb that info and just wait for the buyer to leave feedback or the 21 days for my funds.

My question is, is this possible, to be linked with the parcel tracking details?

Maybe it's far-fetched but, a simple algorithm in the system should do it - added to that the other info that can be gathered , i.e post office location, exact time of posting etc.

It's a bit of an inconvenience when you have the 21 day hold.

Thanks a lot :yar:

I would not worry about 1 number apart but if you have the same number posted for 2 different accounts I would not do it. Just another way for them to easily check if they need to. You are right any simple program would find something so simple so just avoid it if you can.

Should an account come down to a manual review, then it may be feasible for a link to be detected.

Bear in mind that if ebay decide to pick on an account, they will look for anything to limit it. Reduces chances as far as possible :juggle:

Highly doubt it - you would have many other slip ups before they hit you with postage tracking links.

No, this is not an issue IMO

Can eb/PP see info behind the tracking #? Like if I got 1 PO Box for my return address to use with all my stealth accounts, could they see this address through the tracking #? I would print directly from USPS.com and then just upload the tracking #. I was thinking they can only see the origin zip code..?

Simple solution - keep many rolls of recorded labels, one roll = one account.

thanks everyone for your valued input.

I think i will keep my tin hat on, but make a deliberate effort to alternate the recorded delivery parcels by processing/posting non-recorded items inbetween the recorded parcels. Hopefully the numbers will have a few more digits between them and pose less of a risk.

exactly. Do what YOU are comfortable doing to prevent linking :pop2:
