VCC UK clarification
 

Howdy all, would really appreciate some help with this. I'm no doubt being stupid, but with no previous experience whatsoever with VCC's, and ambiguity in the guide, I'm confused! I have gone over so many VCC threads my head is spinning, but I cannot find what I'm looking for. The only (real, selling suspended) eb acct I (currently) have is ten years old so was made way back, and I cannot recall anything to do with VCC's even being part of the game when I registered then, so have no idea what they are/their inclusion is all about really, so would appreciate someone in the know's gems of knowledge.

Guide: need new bank account and VCC to verify PP account.
However, nowhere does it make reference to the details you should be using for this.
Bank acct details (except name) = real.
Guide = this bank acct is being used to verify PP acct.
VCC details = ????
Guide = this VCC is being used to verify PP acct.

Is the VCC supposed to match bank acct details?
Or is VCC supposed to match stealth EB/PP details?

Add to this the whole AVS thing and I'm even more confused... what exactly is this VCC used for and when/at what point and future points will I need to use it?

A VCC cant verify a UK paypal account.

Only a bank account can do this.

VCC's in the UK are mainly used to pay fees or such.

You need the VCC to confirm your card on PayPal.

This isn't needed as much nowadays (Although I still do it on new accounts) Since PayPal now ask for docs to lift the receiving limit now. Whereas before, a VCC and a voip telephone number would do the job.

Thanks, but still really need that whole original post and all it's questions answered as I can't understand much of anything that follows until I understand the basics.

1. Bank account details will be your own name/address.

2. VCC. Use entropay. Again, you open the entropay account in your real name. You can then use any name/address on your PayPal account, and entropay will get your expuse.

Be advised however, that PayPal will ask for docs, so be ready! :typing:

Won't be using entropay due to not only so many people's bad experiences with it here on the forum, but other people I've known outside of here too. Looking to use ibux, if I can blimmin well find somewhere to buy one.

What on earth is this VCC used for then? Do I even need it? Like I said in starting post I literally am at a loss... it is used at which stage of registering? It is used for what exactly? At what future stages does it have to be used? What SHOULD the details be in: matching PP stealth, or matching real bank?- like I said in that opening post, I find the guide lacking in the VCC area- who is using it (paypal?) and what are they using it to verify: i.e. what is supposed to match with what?

Entropay and ibux are a completely different ball game, your getting yourself confused with the basics here.

VCC's with regards UK paypal/ebay are virtually USELESS. All they are really used for now if to pay ebay seller fees or to have to have on file to make your account 'look stronger'.

Listen to what im saying - You need a UK BANK ACCOUNT to VERIFY a UK PAYPAL in order to START SELLING.

Forget VCC's for now unless you plan on using one to pay your fee's.

Bank accounts should be made using REAL DETAILS. Paypal cannot see the name on your bank account when withdrawing funds, all they see is the sort code and account number. So use your STEALTH DETAILS on your PAYPAL.

People used to add VCC's to paypal and a working phone number to lift the £1900 limit. This NO LONGER WORKS. Your probably confusing yourself by reading older posts and newer posts together.

Some of that is what I was trying to get at: I'm already aware of everything re: bank acct, names, etc. What I was not understanding (and still don't, but no longer seems to matter) was where on earth this whole VCC thing came in, what on earth it actually is, and what on earth it was used for. So essentially, as a UK seller, I can ignore that part in the guide saying "you need a (new bank account) and prepaid card." The ONLY thing I need to actually be able to start selling is this verified UK bank account. The VCC is NOT a pre-requisite for a UK seller.

From what mevebay says though, it seems what has taken this place, or what I need to be prepared for instead, is to send in documents. Sheesh. It never ends. When I began all those years ago I never had to send in a single doc, and never had to for that acct to this day. Cannot believe that I will now have to send some in straight off the bat.

They WERE used to remove the £1900 limit. no longer works.

However people often still use vcc's such as entropay to pay their seller fees.

Your trying to make it more complicated that it need be.

The answers your looking for are all in this thread, and all in the forum, covered many times.

To turn an ebay buyer account into a seller account you either use a VCC (which would mean you have it on file to pay ebay fee's)

OR

Link it to your paypal account.

once you provide your new pp account with your bank details and verify it do you still have a withdrawal limit on it if so what docs do you need to provide to get it removed?

You'll be left with a £1900 per year withdraw limit. You have to supply them with proof of ID and proof of Address to get that lifted.
