Public IPs
 

My account recently has gotten suspended. I've logged in with it at the library and at my work place, is it safe to go back and use my stealth ones there? They are public IPs and I've only used them there occasionally.

Avoid public IP's like the plague if you value your accounts.

I'm surprised at you shadowsfall - you've got the book and the forums and you still ask that - my turn for a headache:doh::doh:

Ahh, well I just wasn't too sure! I mean.. won't ebay know it's a public one. How do they know im someone else!

I use public PC's sometimes. If I need to print a shipping label and am not home for example. Sometimes I bring a AC power converter, laptop and printer if I want to lug it all around and don't use public PC's then.


Some public PC's are riskier than others. I use FedEx Kinko's which delete the cookies each time a user logs on. Other public PC's won't let you delete the cookies at all. So that can cause probelem.

If they wanted to they could blacklist all the FedEx IP's, but that would be a nightmare to deal with. If you do a IP trace from a FedEX PC it shows as being registered to FedEx.

I just set-up accounts with different levels of stealth, to test how long they last.

Think about it. If you can access your stealth account on that IP address, others can register and access their ebay accounts as well, and often the suspended ones as well.
