I think 2 is the max at one time. I know that's what it does for me.

With the same Google Voice account?

I tried adding my personal number to a different gmail/google voice and the number I had with the previous gmail/google voice is now gone, at least that I understood from the message.

I haven't tried multiple numbers on ONE account yet.

What I have done is use one number attached to multiple GVoice accounts and the max they let me do this is twice, so 2 GVoice accounts per one cell phone number that I have.

You can have 2 active numbers or about 5 non active, any number you make after 2 they will start to take the place of the first 2 and only remain active until you make another one.

I'm confused, what about the email I got from them?

When signed up for the 2nd gmail/google voice I clicked on "I want a new number". THe other option was to "Use existing mobile number".

Hmmm, weird, now if I re-add it to the first Gmail/google voice, the 2nd one gets de-activated.

Any ideas what I could do or whats wrong?

Like I said above you can only have 2 active numbers per phone, if you make any more it will delete the previous one.
