I guess they are trying to make me verify stealth identity online? Hope I don't have to call them. Anyone gone through this before? I just want to prepare myself to pass this to go ahead and start selling again. PLEASE any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. |
| BigCJ | 08-10-2011 02:15 PM | You have to use the search function. This is one of the most basic of questions/problems on a stealth account.
Have your information ready, and yes, you have to call them. That is the only way.
Just make sure you are on the ball with your answers and info. |
| archshot2k10 | 08-10-2011 02:16 PM | Hey buddy sorry about what happened to you. I would like to congratulate you on going that extra step to make sure your account was strong, the thing is that no matter how strong it is you just never know what's gonna happen.
I used to be afraid of the call but it's not a big deal. They are ging to ask you a series of question regarding the f@%e info you provided. All you have to do is answer "none of the above to all the questions. That's it and they will reinstate your account.
Good luck. |
| xavi72 | 08-10-2011 05:42 PM | I just received the same exact notice so I have to call them within 24 hours. This is for a stealth account so I'm wondering what kind of questions am I expected to be thrown at me? Birthdate, social security #, etc.... Any feedback from people that have gone through this call would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks |
| itsjappo | 08-10-2011 07:14 PM | I did search guys. I just wanted some insight on someone who has gone through this recently and see what I should expect. Need to know how to prepare for it as far as what info to get ready and know or research for. I don't want to have to get this stealth acct locked up since I wasted a month trying to build it. Thanks for any other info out there. |

Thanks | You have to know about the name, address and phone you used and usually some DMV related question. |
| SweetPea | 08-10-2011 07:33 PM | The forums do discuss what members have done in these situations. We have all encountered it.
Since you bought an account that was already verified, you are probably linked to an old account which is restricted/suspended. They will tell you when you call.
Just purchasing an account doesn't mean you are free and clear. There are still many ways you can be linked. :pop2: |
| itsjappo | 08-10-2011 08:06 PM | What phone will I use to call. I ask since its a bought acct so of course i dont have that number. I have a prepaid fone I want to use but the number won't match. Should be ok? |
| SweetPea | 08-10-2011 08:17 PM | I've thought about that myself. I have always created my own account. I can only think of two things..contact the member who sold you the account and ask them, or tell Ebay you had to change your number because you switched phone carriers. I was just posting to another thread about using a real phone number. For an extra $10 per month, I added an additional phone line to my existing plan. That way, I have a number in which Ebay, Paypal, or buyers can contact you anytime. If you only have one stealth account, why not just have your cell phone number changed? I know that is a big hassle! I am not as experienced as some members in this area! |
| itsjappo | 08-11-2011 12:18 AM | seller just pretty much said " oh that sucks, it was because of something you did" . So not really that much help. any other suggestions? |
| SweetPea | 08-11-2011 12:34 AM | This is out of my realm of expertise. I would do the 2nd thing I mentioned. Get another line and just tell Ebay your number changed because you switched services. Did you check the forums for info? I would have to read up on it. Maybe someone can join the forum who knows?? :pop2: |
| EGYfromhell | 08-11-2011 10:51 AM | ItsJappo, I guess your seller is right, and I guess that you did something wrong
From my exp, I guess EB got you will the selling item behavior, I had the same problem, Try to change how you write in your auction title and description, the selling price, shipping method...many things, if you are setting up new EB account, try to tell yourself that you do not know anything about it, try to discover it as the first time, that works for me, other than that I get MC999 easy :) |
| Melissa1971 | 08-11-2011 11:15 AM | If asked, I'd tell them I am using my spouse's (husband/wife's) phone.
I do that all the time when calling Ebay, we have three or four phones in this house |

It is not their business as to what is happening with your account status. If your account is suspended, you can't get the sellers contact info. It is all over at the suspended level.
I do not agree at this point that they linked you because of how your auction was written. That comes later in the investigation. Something major happened and they linked you. To make sure you are in fact the same person (linked), they collect evidence and look more carefully at your account, such as what you are listing, photos, listing details, etc...:pop2: |

Only if that phone is linked to your ebay account. If it is linked to another ebay account, then I wouldn't chance it. not linked to anything is ok
There is also call fowarding but I haven't done it and I'd assume you'd want to get a number that is realistically near the location of a phone number near your physical location. Hope that makes sense but others here know more about that than I do. I would just buy a tracphone if needed |
| SweetPea | 08-11-2011 11:56 AM | Yeah, that is not my area of expertise. I haven't had enough Ebay accounts to need other numbers. |
| Melissa1971 | 08-11-2011 11:59 AM | me neither |
| itsjappo | 08-11-2011 01:10 PM | I have the ways of calling them now. Just not sure how it's gonna go. Wish me luck and worst comes to worst, I have to provide docs. Atleast its stealth and can always get another one.:juggle: |
| SweetPea | 08-11-2011 01:28 PM | True you can create another, but you might still have to "pass" the ID test again and again. That is what happens when you have a stealth. They won't be able to verify your ID when you call, so that is when they want you to fax ID. BE CAREFUL at that point. That is when they will start looking at your account VERY CAREFULLY if they see a link. That is the time they start looking at pics, etc..I would get another stealth going now. Read the forums about letting it mature..:pop2: |
| itsjappo | 08-11-2011 01:56 PM | Just got off the phone with them. Asked for my registration info. Then said I just need to answer one question on the phone. The question was
"what other name first name I have used before?"
a) edward
b) kent
c) john
d) paul
e) none of the above
The stealth first name was jeff so there's no way they would be using any of those out of the blue names before. So I answered None of the above.
I guess the answer was wrong b/c now they want me to send in docs. GREEEATTT!!!!!
Now I'm thinking if there's even a right answer. Because those choices were so far from making sense that it had to be none of the above. It's like taking a stupid multiple answer test in school where the teacher gave you a free answer because none of them made sense whatsoever.:mad2:
Now the question is, is it worth trying to keep this account and trying to get some docs made up or time to let it go? Let me know guys. Thanks.
I HATE EBAY! But I need it since I don't have a job:doh: |
| itsjappo | 08-11-2011 02:01 PM | Oh another thing. When they do those randow questions. I just type it in google and whatever pops up can be the answer? It doesn't have to make sense as long as there's results of it showing on google? I ask because I just typed in the first and last name of my stealth and "edward" on google and there were results. Even though the person is clearly not the name of the ebay stealth name. Let me know if anyone has experience on this |
| BiN4RY | 08-11-2011 02:04 PM | eBay can ask for your docs even if you answers correctly. |
| itsjappo | 08-11-2011 02:09 PM | I see. So would you think it's worth getting docs made for this or just letting it go? I wonder how much it is to get docs made and who can do them. Thanks guys. It's a learning process, I'm sure. :amen: |
| BiN4RY | 08-11-2011 02:51 PM | No, move on. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:06 PM. | |
