It turns out the paypal account was being used with a stolen credit card, and read the fine print in paypal they will immediately take the money out from your account weeks later. I PROMISE! I think what most do, is send you a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ Paypal Funds Received Email.

I've seen the email, looks decent, I can imagine a lot of people falling for it and sending in their electronics overseas, otherwise they wouldn't spam craigslist everyday and night :)

I personally have sold some stuff via PP on CL, small stuff usually under 100$. Also a few times buyers sent a down payment (under 15$) to meet in the "middle" as I usually don't go out of my way to sell stuff on CL.

Nope, I'm still here.
There's been a lot of useful and informative posts here, I learned some new stuff, thanks all of you guys!
On the other hand, it's very sweet how everybody is warning "DON'T DO IT!" :) Allow me to say that this is a very comfortable and probably the easiest answer to the question.
What I want to know is: how do you take control over this situation, how can you make sure that you will not lose the game, what will make the scammer say at the end: "ups, he got me..." ?

Your buyer will post likely send you a very ****ty spoofed mail saying that the payment was already send, but will not show in your account until a tracking number is provided for the escrow team, with an address pointing to a mail forwarding center or Nigeria.

I personally think its best to just walk away and not get yourself into any trouble

The chances are there albeit not high but why take the chance and hassle.

Not sure why I am acting grown up. I probably would really just try to meet them and bring my ball bat.
