- selling limit increase

I searched, but couldn't find any discussions that directly pertained to my question.

My eBay account with my real name and address was banned out of the blue (12 year member, TRS). Long story on what happened, but it is in the past.

I have made a few stealth accounts. Learned my mistakes early on.

I have one stealth account now, that is set up as a business account, with one of my tax ID numbers. I am using a PO Box as the address, which is a legit PO Box for my business. For the name, I used my real name (the name that was on the account which was previously banned).

My selling limits are 100/$5,000. I am also a Top-Rated seller who has been on eBay for a few months now.

I understand that in order to increase these limits from calling, that eBay may ask me personal questions that they will pull from public records. My concern is how they use the answers to these questions. I will be basically confirming my identity, and therefore be confirming that I had a previously banned account. When eBay verifies your information from public records, do they cross-check your name with banned accounts? Or do they simply do the check to see if you are a real person?

To sum things up, I am wondering if confirming my identity will be a suicide for the account, or if confirming my identity will strengthen the account and the fact that my name matches a previously banned account will spell disaster for me. The PO Box is in the same town as the previously banned account.

Thanks for the help!

EDIT: I should also mention that the account has about 150 feedback, all positive. ZERO Low DSR, verified business PP account. Originally when I opened the account, I had 10/$500 limits. I called eBay to increase these, spoke with a friendly rep who raised my limits and complimented me on having a stellar account with great photos, descriptions, ect.

I have heard it can go either way. Using old info highly risky.

I would stay with what you have and spread sales to another account lowering risk.

That's what I figured. Do they always ask to confirm identity after reaching the $5k/100 item threshold?
