New Security Verification Methods
 

I recently logged on to one of my newer accounts and noticed that I was asked by eBay a few questions such as what car I had, where my first address was, etc.

The account was made under my fathers name, and all the four questions had something to do with him. For ex. the car question had one of my dads newer 2009 cars listed as one of the options, the questions were something like this:

What SUV did you buy in 2009?

1. Lexus
2. Tahoe
3. Jeep
4. Escalade

Now how in the world does eBay now my dad bought a Lexus in 2009? There were also other questions on there that would require eBay to have detailed information on my dads insurance, bills, etc. Do they run all this through SS that was registered with PayPal or perhaps a CC?

Anyways, I lucked out and guessed all four questions right (at least I think I did) and was allowed to login the account and sell stuff again.

Just a heads up I've never seen this intricate security system before and I sure as hell know I never put any of the above questions in my account when I registered.

This has been going on for months. Whilst there have been many posts about the topic under MC010 limitations, I am not going to go thro' them to find any that match your otherwise helpful post. Similar questions have been asked of other users. :juggle:

Yes, this is happening. In your case you were lucky. Users making accounts have to ensure they prepare carefully to keep the accounts going.

They use public record system they have integrated into there systems. Which one do they use? We don't know.

Yet another person putting their feet in the fire by using a family members name, info etc.
