Default Paypals 20K limit

Hello everyone! As of today I recieved my notice from Paypal to provide the information they request.

Just for reassurance, and considering a come nowhere near that dollar amount in one given year, should I hold-off giving my ssn or other personal information even IF I know it will not be reached?

Also, what about the January 1 deadline? What are the true odds of an account being limited on Jan 1 if the information they are requesting are not met?
If I Grossed somewhere between 3-5K per year...would the better choice be to give my ssn to keep my account from being limited or just hold off because I'm not going to meet 20K in the first place?

Thanks for your help!

So far the consensus seems to be they dont limit the account until you reach it. I have had both ways but most on here say that they just keep avoiding the popup asking for it and go on their way.

Even if they do limit your account, the note says as soon as you post your SSN they will release it back to working order.

I say just hold off until you have to. No big deal really either way. But if you want to stay stealthy then dont give it yet.

For me they hit me way before the 20k.

As I have posted many times, the IRS has put pp in an odd spot in that they want to be prepared for the people who will hit the 20k.

So, in my opinion they are going after those who have the "potential" of hitting 20k with the best selling season coming up.

And yes, the account was put into a limited status for me until I provided them with a gazillion pieces of information.

Outstanding feedback! Thank you very much! Any and all opinions are greatly appreciated! Is there a way to find out what ones gross sales for a fiscal year have been on Paypal?

Thanks again!

So far you have to do the reports and add each month up. Make you go by paypal and not ebay. some make that mistake not realizing they have 3k in shipping alone sometimes. in my case I didnt realize I had so many invoiced sales on the side.
