It would be hard to tell unless we knew what the product was.

Did the email come through Amazon? Was the user name legitimate? Did the email contain the address and phone number of the law firm? Or at least their email address?

Legitimate attorneys NEVER try to hide their contact information. They WANT you to know they are for real. Scammers use names like "PiracyPreventionSquad" or other such nonsense.

One thing you could do is to find the phone number of the law firm. Blind call them and ask to speak with the attorney who represents _____________. Fill in the blank with the name of the company that owns the product you are selling. If they tranbsfer your call to Gary Sirota, then that could be a sign the email is legit. It would not be 100%, but that is one indicator.

Another indicator is the email itself. Were there any misspellings or grammatical erors? Attoneys are VERY CAREFUL to make sure everything they send looks 100% professional.

I am always skeptical when I see such a letter coming in via email. If *I* were an attorney representing a product owner, I wouldn'r contact you at all. I would file a DMCA notice directly with Amaon. Either that, or have my secretary buy an item from you to see if is was real or not. If not, then I would file a lawsuit.

Please note this is an opinion of jeffweico's.

Sensible, as always, but an opinion.

It has not been my experience that x4 messages would come via an ecommerce portal.

Any attorney acting for a VeRo rights owner is normally more professional in the method of approach.:juggle:

Maybe the lawyer is drunk that day/night.
