| | | SlickJane | 11-03-2011 03:32 PM | Think this will work? Hypothetically, of course Paypal is asking for documents- SSN, photo ID, utility bill, tracking numbers, and supplier invoices.
I have submitted everything except the last one.
So what if I took a bigtime legitimate suppliers invoice and tweaked it to show everything I need to show?
Or is all of this rigamarole for nothing, I'm toast no matter what?
100% positive feedback, no claims or cases, all legitimate info. |
| FandangoKango | 11-03-2011 03:53 PM | Depends what you are selling. If you got a bigtime supplier invoice you might get through with nps. |
| GrannyT | 11-03-2011 04:21 PM | You have nothing to lose by trying - if you have come this far you might as well see it through
You might want to consider 'placing' a new phone number on your invoices |
| cardfelon | 11-03-2011 04:31 PM | If this is a stealth account there is no legal way around the SSN# |
| GrannyT | 11-03-2011 04:33 PM | Thank god we don't yet have that problem this side of the pond |
| SlickJane | 11-03-2011 05:08 PM | It's a real person (friend) and a real ssn. With their permission (I give them a cut) |
Cut or not aside, playing your friend`s real info is Yikes in my books. As for supplier`s invoices, all I can say is to think creatively and stealth. |

| KingRay | 11-04-2011 12:42 AM | Really??? Its 100% illegal to use ANYONES SSN for ANYTHING. Regardless how bad you or anyone else thinks it is. You and the person that owns the number will be in trouble.
Just how it is. You cannot use it. If you are then dont mention it on here because you are only going to get thrashed for it. Look up the reason why and how much hassle it will bring you. Not just legal but the monetary mess that goes along with tax reporting, etc. just dont.
I know you werent asking me but im answering it. The 2nd part of the question has been elaborated on many times on these forums. MANY |

Been proven time & time AND time again.
Use your imagination to work out rsot's message ;)
Here's the low down. Learn from it or lose from it. I'm stating it for your benefit.
Two factors count against your having an account run long term.
In no particular order of importance but essential for you to grasp.
'No invoices' implies items from overseas that are high risk in the eyes of ebay/paypal. Difficult to maintain accounts with them.
Secondly part of proving your account involves the use of another's SSN. Get the account associated with that suspended, limited and that's the end of the use of that SSN. Friend could never use it near ebay again. And you have to look at other options to maintain an account.
This is NOT optimum stealth operation. Never has been. Never will be.
Reassess your business practise quickly or you will be back telling us the account got limited yada yada yada :pop2: |
Apologies if I did not go into heavier detail. |
| SlickJane | 11-05-2011 09:29 AM | Thank you for your input, I appreciate it. I'm not doing anything illegal- I am helping a friend maintain their account, that is not illegal, lol. They are not very computer savvy and don't give a crap about e bay and whether their account gets suspended or not.
The update on this account, I am happy to say, is that it has passed their tests. Hooray! |

Man some of you People are UNREAL |
| SlickJane | 11-05-2011 09:47 AM | Wow. Ok, selling things on there is not illegal. I have done nothing illegal.
My friend is not "stuck with a tax problem". I report all of my income and always have. He will report his as well. He has gone into this with his eyes wide open- he knows all of it- and I'm not an a-hole, if the account gets suspended I would pay the fees, I wouldn't stick him with any bill. If it were to all end right here, he would be just fine and dandy, he made a few thousand that he wouldn't have otherwise. |
| Gman91189 | 11-05-2011 12:23 PM | Yes the tax he would have to pay on 20k is a whooole lotta money.
Using your FRIENDS info to sell IS ILLEGAL no matter what excuse u have its not going to fly by with the law, u could try, but I'm pretty sure you are goin to be opening your own forum "Caught using friends info, going to prison" in a theater near you.
NOT to mention depending on what you are selling...lets say Beach body products...who knows u might just get lucky enough to have one of their undercover agents purchase the "high quality" item from ur FRIEND and find out its (in greenbeans's typing voice) Foo foos, might get a nice certified letter through ur friends mailing address.
Keep us updated on how much ur friend would love you then:pop2: |

A friend wanted to sell on ebay (because he saw how profitable it has been for me), but is not computer savvy at all. He created the ebay and paypal accounts, with all his information. He has me manage the products, listing, sales, shipping, etc. It is not illegal to give someone else permission to access your ebay account. LOL!
He is aware of all aspects of the arrangement. This is ridiculous, haha. I have always reported all income, and he will do the same. I like making money, but I'm not an idiot- I pay my taxes. |

,,,,,,,,,,,,He is aware of all aspects of the arrangement. This is ridiculous, haha. I have always reported all income, and he will do the same. I like making money, but I'm not an idiot- I pay my taxes. | You Do NOT Get it,,,You are getting all Defensive when Users here are trying to help you,,,,So Let me try again,,,First off Know this I have been Filing Tax Returns for BOTH Myself Personally and My Companie S for OVER 30 Years Now,,which Im willing to bet is longer than you are Old,,In Essence I Know a thing or two about Filing taxes.
Now that Being said on to the Matter at Hand,,,,,,
at the End of the Year Paypal is REQUIRED By the IRS to issue you a Form 1099 which basically tells you how much Money Paypal Processed in your account, they also tell the IRS,,,Now just to keep this simple,, what you are supposed to do is to tell the IRS how much of that money was Profit and Pay Taxes on it.
That is a Very simplistic Example of how the System Works,,,
Now in this case the Paypal account is in your Friends Name,,,the 1099 will come in your friends name, and lets not forget that Paypal and the IRS have the SSN as well,,Therefore your friend is Responsible for the Profit on THE ENTIRE AMOUNT,,,You on the other hand as far as The IRS is concerned you are NOT Responsible for anything, Your Name is NO WHERE so ANY Profit that you make from this Deal can be Easily Seen as Tax Evasion by an IRS Prosecutor,,Now I Know that you say that you are "Reporting" it but you Cannot Prove it, You could have won the Money at the Racetrack,,
As for your Friend, he CANNOT report only HALF of the Profit and tell the IRS to get the Other Half of the profit from you,,,This can also be easily conscrewed as Tax Evasion,,and Just so you Know,,, Tax Evasion,,, is Illegal,,,So Do NOT Tell me it is NOT Illegal Because it is,,,Just Because the Spirit of what you are Doing and Your Intentions may be Honest it Does NOT mean that the IRS will Agree,,,The IRS will MOST Likely NOT Agree,,,Jails are FULL Of Innocent People,,
IRS Audits are NOT Fun, I Know I have been through a Few in my time,,,
Now there are Several Ways to do this Properly, the simplest way is to convert the Paypal account to a Business account and them form a Small LLC, (Limited Liability Company) where the BOTH of you are Partners and BOTH of you are reponsible for the Taxes Individually,,,Paypal and Ebay will be None the Wiser,,Your Stealth will be Intact and the IRS will be Happy,,,,there are other ways as well |
| GreenBean | 11-05-2011 11:16 PM | Your arrangement is only to suit you and your friend.
Since you can not or will not grasp the tax consequences involved, thread is closed.
You are advised to take professional advice for the matter.
