Struggling to get banks accounts
 

Hi, For some reason I'm struggling to get banks accounts. Don't why, there's nothing wrong with my credit rating etc and I don't have loads of them.

Are there any alternatives for withdrawing money from pp?

Not really, you need a UK bank account in order to verify...

You should'nt have a problem if your credit ratings okay, you ran a credit check recently?

Are you going for basic accounts? Not as many checks get done versus full, all singing, all dancing current accounts.

There are also some companies that offer guaranteed accounts for people with poor credit ratings but there are significant monthly fees associated with them.

My credit rating is fine, I've just been given a Barclay card with a £7k limit.

Every bank I've been to wants to know exactly what I'm using the account for, am I planning to have my wages paid into it, and do I want to use their switching service to move all my direct debits and overdrafts over to them. As soon as I tell them I just want a bog standard account with no credit facilities and no, I don't want the £12 per month account with 'benefits' I can see a light in their eyes go dim.

The only bank who showed any interest was Halifax but they want £100 from me to open the account with. They told me not to worry and I'll get it back within 24hr and stumping that up isn't a problem but wtf?

The British banking system is screwed at the minute, they only seem interested in you if they think they're going to make good money out of you

Simple answer to this....do it online.....

thats what i do.....avoids going in branch and having them practice their little sales pitches on me explaining how great it would be to have a huge overdraft with them...no thankssss:pop2:
