Seller's behavior
 

So I bought a few items from a seller because I needed them and the seller was a punk since they verified many things. I called the seller and told me that they called ebay and verified me and I was good to go. Can you explain to me how this works? Can a seller call ebay or paypal and ask them if im good to buy or what exactly did they do?

Was this a small seller? What was your feedback like on the buyer account?

If I was a new seller on eBay and had some questions regarding a transaction...who else would I call?

I have had the account for over a year and it has like 20 feedback. This was a big seller, but I didn't know sellers could call in and verify buyers? HELLO?

A sharp seller might be able to 'check' the bonafides of a buyer, sure. It's good business.

Who's to say that year old account with its precious 20 FB has not been hijacked?

A few well choosen questions and the seller would get a picture of the buyer.

And yes, I know of a buyer being checked like you described. Can happen on paypal too

FandangoKango!!! Man you always get into these sticky situations. First Ebay is watching you and now people are calling into Ebay for verification?? I don't know but it seems like you are on a slippery slope my friend. I don't want to be in your shoes right now :eek:

I needed to make a 2k purchase the past week and it was instant I needed the things so since it was my first time buying from them they acted like that. Plus the lady hanged up on me on the phone a few times as I was being nice asking if I could get more etc and they just hanged up on me which I still bought since it was the only seller who was selling what I needed. That is why im saying she is a punk being the way she treats certain people.

@cardfelon - im not doing anything crazy and everybody is being watched including you.

Let me guess the sellers was selling money packs :D all the rulese these bstrds have when it comes to selling them is crazy. ebays rules must had changed cause not to long ago u couldnt sell these at all on there.

The way i see it if the sellers want to sell there money packs on ebay for $50 more then the cost of the card then the risk of fuard is the price the seller should have to take. Cause most people in there right mind wont buy a money pack thats worth $200 for $250 on ebay when they can goto almost any station or walmart and get it for $204.95.

Yea, I bought a ton of moneypaks. The price wasen't the problem. The way the seller handled my calls and stuff was just unprofessional especially being the company they say they are. Too bad the seller just pissed me off won't be buying from them anymore. Lost my business and I had more for them. I'm going to send them a nice evil letter. Muahahaha. Anyways thanks guys!

Yep guess its a good thing there not the only seller on there that sells the money packs :)

U every have any problem with them emailing u the code?

They send you the code if you have 5 or 10 feedback or more depends on the seller. If you don't then they send it by mail and they won't budge or negotiate. This seller I bought from told me she had 18 fraud causes opened and she didn't want to take any risk so she could only mail it, but since she called in ebay and said I was ok to go which I think she is bsing around or I don't know because I never heard of this then who knows.

Get em Fandango!! I would think after receiving a letter from you they might think twice about giving their buyers the run around. Glad to hear you are on top of things though!!

And btw Ebay isn't watching me because I am part of the exclusive club that gets to do what they want. It is sort of like having a Platinum card at the casino. Rules don't apply to me on Ebay!

You wanna know why people pay more? Just as there is a market for stolen credit cards, there is a market for stolen PayPal and eBay accounts.

A thief gets a hold of a PayPal account with money in it, but the money can be hard to move out of PayPal to a bank account. It is not quite as hard if the the buyer is purchasing something on eBay. A Money-Pack is IDEAL for these people. They get emailed the number, put it on a stolen prepaid card and withdraw it from the ATM. All of this happens very quickly. By the time the rightful owner of the account even knows his funds are missing, they are long gone with the cash.

That is why the seller mentioned had 18 fraud cases opened and is also why they usually only want to mail the Money-Pack numbers to a physical address that has been confirmed with eBay.

But this is why the thief does not care how much more the Money-Pack costs. $204.95 or $2049.95, it is all the same to the thief.

Actually, I am amazed that eBay allows this at all.

@Fandangokango - why would you buy a ton of moneypaks from this seller when you could go down the street and get them directly?

@RSOT - Makes no sense to me either. He has posted before here on the forum trying to get people to go buy them for him and he would pay via Paypal. To me it just doesn't seem right.

@rsot, on that story he was not 'near enough to a place' to do so.

he is trying to cash out , no? just needs to get seller to send them to his real address. tricky. think codes if allowed and sometimes are, are a good way, cannot see huge amounts getting moved with this, but odd bits of money v useful. say you are verified with vba and want to cash out cos cannot withdraw. you are not a scammer , just trying to move it out somehow. buy from own auction is another method.........all risky

like i said it would be used for shady bussiness which is people who cash out stolen funds or it will be for people like fandango "us stealth users" who uses it to cash out paypal. We all know when u use a stealth paypal that at any given time paypal can reverse the funds sent so if u buy a money pack and get them to email it to u with in mins and u load your card then if paypal was to reverse the funds the seller would take the fall. I had a guy a few days ago buy a VBA for $20 i sent it and about 1-2 days later Pp opened a dispute and took the funds back which it was only $20 but its the point of the matter they can take the funds back at any given time be it with in a few days or a few months i seen this happen with both cases.

eBay wouldnt even let me sell 10 visa gift cards with like $1-$2 on each cause of furadlnt use but they let u sell money packs with $200 on them dam that sites all Ack Basswards :lol:

FandangoKango isn't lying I know exactly who you are talking about and am going through the same thang with her she's super shady .........who answers the phone and say that it's the person you are calling assistant? Another shady one she was trying to verify my addy using the tax accessors website and if it didn't come up then she couldn't verify me? I think they do more fraud then people do to them by changing rules by the mins......
