Default Virtual Banking List.. Lets get Started..

So the purpose of this thread is to find new banking solutions for you guys. We know that ING is having issues with Paypal. WaMu sounds promising and HSBCDirect could be something else to look at. I know we can walk to a local bank and create an account easy, but I'm looking for virtual banking. Something most Americans, EU, Canadians, etc can sign up for and use. Anyone else using a working virtual bank you want to share?

OKay we know ING is having some issues with Paypal. Older Paypal accounts are okay, but new ones are having issues. It's not 100% confirmed but three people so far have come up with the same limited Paypal account after adding ING.

So what other online banking is out there for us? I hear about WaMu working perfect with eBay and Paypal? What else do you guys have?

US?

ING - May Work with Paypal - Try I N G Direct for Bank name
HSBCDirect - Confirmed Working
Bank of America - Confirmed Working
Netbank - Not Working
eTrade - Not Confirmed
EmigrantDirect - Not Confirmed
Capital One - Not Confirmed
Wachovia - Confirmed Working

Canada -

RBC Royal Bank of Canada - Working
President Choice Financial - Working
National Bank - Working
TD Toronto Dominion - Working
BMO Bank of Montreal - Working
ScotiaBank - Working
CIBC Canadian Imperian Bank of Commerce - Working

They all allow you to open an account online, plus you can open saving accounts directly on their website. HSBC direct might work too but I never tested it neither do I know someone who have an account there.

BTW they are all located in Canada and you need to provide them your social to open an account.

EDIT: Citi's working fine too but their monthly maintenance fee are huge compare to the other banks stated above!

Let's create a working list...

Thanks,

No offense to anyone if I deleted your post. I just want to keep this thread clean and I will update with the latest information you guys give me. I added the banks you guys suggested, if anyone has any experience with them please leave your reply so I can confirm it's working with Paypal. Thanks guys.

Default ING doesn't work for one reason only...

That if anything should go wrong, ING does not accept ACH debits, so PP cannot take money back out if anything goes wrong. That is the reason they will not lift your limit verifying it either, as I have had the same exact problem always when using an account that does not allow ACH debits from the account. If you just have ING as a secondary bank account, you are fine, so long as you have one on file that allows debits also. Just an out for PP, that's all.

HSBCDirect

Used it last week. It verified the 2 deposits just fine and I have done PP withdrawal to the account.

so what if you used ING and it got verified and the 2 deposit showed up
are you in the clear?
or will they limit you once you try to withdraw?
I just added an ING to a new paypal account and no problem paypal got verified but I still did not receive or withdrew any money from it

Using ING just means you will still be under watch after verification.

There is no such thing as a virtual bank in the UK. There are many banks on the High Street that offer online banking services. Go to the UK forum and read the information there.

If by saying 'virtual' you want a bank that will you allow to create an account without ID, then there are none. But, as in everything, there are ways around this problem.

So can we shed some light to this with the fall of WAMU?
Just logged into there and it said
"WAMU Customers, Welcome to JP Morgan Chase"

Are there any additions or subtractions to the list on post #1

Within the next month or so I am going to try a citbank account. I've had an account with them for a few years now but did not use it often and never used it for paypal.

For those debating the ING (even though someone recently bumped this thread and that was an old debate) you are talking about 2 different types of accounts. ING offers not only savings but checking accounts called "electric orange" accounts which allow ach debits, etc.

^^^Correct. To 'pick' an account for our purposes, anyone has to read the fine print.Every account differs. And, shock, horror, think of phoning the bank's Customer Service to ask them about their product. Might be a bit hard for some to understand.
