eBay getting stricter over xmas?

Is it just me or has ebay gotten really strict this month?
Ive had listings pulled left right n centre on things which were selling like hot cakes only a month ago.
Secondly this has happened to all the other sellers in the category. Even all the chinese sellers have "dissapeared". I find it quite odd.

I heard rumours that ebay was employing people in Ireland to knock certain listings off.

Anyone else found similar troubles recently?

vauxalot 12-16-2011 07:09 AM

No its true. I have lost 7 accounts in the run upto xmas not down to anything other than hard front from eBay, 4 of the accounts I have had for years and been as good as gold high DSR and 1000s of feedback, only one neg feedback in the last year some with none then out the blue must have been flagged and then the normal high risks crap..its all a bit strange

GreenBean 12-16-2011 07:20 AM

Specific takedown codes?

Prefer more info :suspicious:

stugots 12-16-2011 09:52 AM

im getting listings removed a bit more often too.

remember 20th is ebays day to REALLY do us dirty and the 16th and 27th are paypals.

DAMMMM todays the 16th huh? GREAT

Firstly - WELCOME BACK Cortex - you been MIA =P

cortex 12-16-2011 11:40 AM

~GEEBEE: They were all MC019's. One account got the 30 day ban and another account from the same ppal has had all its BIN's taken down but the auctions are still live. Guess they dont like cheap-fixed-price-items?

~RSOT: Had exams and coursework up the eyeballs!
Havent been in cyberland for some weeks now but xmas break now so im back :-)

~Stugots: Whats these dates you have there? Is there any truth in them or are they some kinda Masonic Number Rituals? hehe

This is one reason why during holiday season sales I LIMIT myself and my auctions/BuyitNow listings so things don't go haywire.

BiN4RY 12-16-2011 06:07 PM

Definitely, A lot of my usual-normal-selling-items are pulled within a hour with MC019 saying "We want you to sell some low risk item first" etc. Paypal is also getting strict lately. A month or two ago, I was able to sell at least $2K on each inactive aged account and they don't call you or ask for additional info, but now they started to do this as soon as you've made $1000

Im not going haywire though. Infact I've listed less than i usually would.
Still doesn't explain how me, and all my competitor sellers are no longer able to list our items.
Weird

GreenBean 12-16-2011 09:27 PM

MC019? dodgy batch of foo-foos like (MyBad, soz) :boink:

I think ebay/paypal are having marital hassles.

Going slightly off topic, paypal have just held 37 pence of my funds.
Cost the bar stewards more to tell me the amount, ffs. Well impressed:mad2:

FandangoKango 12-17-2011 01:34 AM

I feel the pain and vero takedown. Im going for the grand finale hut!

They're not foofoos or anything like that :croc:

cortex 12-17-2011 07:08 AM

My stock isn't "Ricki Lake" either

GreenBean 12-17-2011 07:15 AM

Just a dodgy MC019, of course :boink:

cortex 12-17-2011 07:32 AM

No I dont think its "a dodgy MC019" there no such thing as that.

According to what others in this thread have said I'd say my suspicions are confirmed in that ebay have gotten stricter over this xmas period.
Probably becauase the large conglomerates out there (e.g. MHLV, Tiffany & Co., Dior etc etc) are all monitoring their sales in stores and if they notice a slump in sales compared to previous xmas sales then Im pretty sure they'll come knocking on ebays door with solicitors in hand....and eBay know this...so this is why I think they have become strict this month.

stugots 12-17-2011 08:59 AM

last night they removed ALOT of mine

cortex 12-17-2011 10:51 AM

^^ a lot of what? :)
was what got removed selling fine before? Like with mine, they were selling everyday for a year...just not anymore :(

mercurial333 12-17-2011 02:04 PM

Quite the opposite for me, xmas went well on 25+ accounts.

Haven't got a phone calls since late Summer from both paypal or ebay. Listed 700-900$ item after a week. Withdrew money before item got delivered all in one swoop. Not asked for documents or verifications on any of these 1-2 months old accounts. Got paypal holds removed on several accounts after only 30 days ( although I know the holds can and probably will come back later on, it's good to be able to withdraw instantly and not have 500$-900$ sitting there for a few weeks in each paypal account ).

I think they were too busy with other stuff ( vero, fraudsters, etc. )

EDIT: Even raised the limits to 50/2500$ one one account, after failing the public records questionaire online. I called in and had the agent pull up another set of questions, this time answered correctly of course.

stugots 12-17-2011 04:00 PM

was selling fine but fri/sat has been hell im not relisting til monday, ill lose alot of sales but ohh well

rsot 12-18-2011 09:56 PM

Quite the back and forth thread.

stugots 12-20-2011 04:43 PM

as far as the dates.

paypal does manual reviews on the 16th and 27th of every month, ebay does account reviews on the 20th of every month (today)

cortex 12-20-2011 05:19 PM
