| JomJarr | 01-17-2012 09:42 AM | Metrobank Glitch Can I discount Metrobank's cash account.
It took the confirmation deposits ok - that bit was fine, worked a treat (this was a non-stealth account I had money stuck in from a private sale).
However, it rejected a withdrawal from PP - on a non-stealth account! This started a ball rolling that got the account suspended with funds stuck.
I've had Metrobank reject setting up of Direct Debits too for 3 mobile. Maybe it's something that can be sorted with a phone call or visit but not reliable enough for stealth IMHO (or even everyday use...) |
thanks for the info
mebe its just this one case as a one or two have said it works fine
keep us posted with any updates pls bro/sis |

This was a bottom of the rung cash account which could be the reason or perhaps my credit rating is so bad they question everything (my paranoia ).
Unfortunately, as I used it with a non-stealth that is now limited, I won't be able to test any further..
As I say, it was fine with for the confirmation, only they rejected the withdrawal into the account (or perhaps PP blocked it - they didn't freeze my account immediately though?) so I'd put it in the 'to be confirmed' pile.. |
sorry if i missed it but what was the limitation message you got,how do you know it was this for a fact
you said they did not limit straight after
it could be one of many things
so how much did you try to withdraw, did you clean out the account? |
| JomJarr | 01-17-2012 02:35 PM | I'll have a look at my emails and get back about that (paranoia says I have to check my emails at home on my own PC rather than risk linking via PP emails this PC here..).
90% sure that PP sent an email saying the bank rejected the withdrawal and hence PP will be removing the card details. But I'll re-check. I may even call Metrobank and ask them what happened.
I should re-iterate though that it was a semi-stealth account (ok, half-baked idea of stealth! Foolish days, only read first pages of guide) - variation on name, separate IP and PC user account from previous eB/PP use, but variation on REAL address but one that was still deliverable to as I only wanted it for non-eB sales and eB purchases.
I had already been permanently 'banned' from PayPal in my own name. And I was accessing the account from all sorts of IPs from my phone, from various wifi spots etc |
| JomJarr | 01-23-2012 05:55 PM | Don't necessarily discount MetroBank afterall - sorry people for potential mis-info!
I checked my emails and it was a payment FROM MetroBank that was rejected by MetroBank.
They didn't like PP's attempt to take money out so rejected the request, PP deleted the card and that was the start of that little problem. This was also a half-stealth account too with variation on real address and name and I was using it only to make a payment.
Hope that's more clear - keep providing info on MetroBank, people, for a definitive answer.. |

Inferred authorisation under paypal T&S..... attach a bank account to paypal then they will & do touch it.
Requirement is for any account holder to stop a DD at the bank & thus remove
permission. Account holder MUST give the bank instructions to prevent paypal grabbing funds.:heh: |
yeah authorization was the wrong word to use
errrr.....errrr
GB help me out
(again) |

| Yes I agree with this point, the bank account holder authorizes the bank to stop the DD for it to be effected OR....there are insufficient funds in the bank account for the PP A/C deposit withdrawals to take effect & hence the bank card account is removed by PP system.
From the OP thread, it is NOT 100% clear cut as yet as to whether Metrobank really ought be discontinued for stealth purposes or not as yet. |
did you submit the transaction in question or did they just do it off their own back?
better,slightly lol |
| xxxhustlerxxx | 01-23-2012 06:49 PM | i have no idea on metrobank. but OP opened a metrobank cash account. these accounts are for 11+ years. they do not have direct debit facilty on them:doh: |

Hmm....that would explain his error.:deadhorse: |
they dont have DD mandate ?
that will be why your bank refused the transaction |
| sasha | 01-23-2012 08:20 PM | I have just opened an account with metro and PP have made to the 2 small deposits into my account, so far so good and hope they don't try and withdraw the funds.
Metro do have DD facilities with certain accounts and I went into the bank in person and told them that I wanted an account where you can set up DD and standing orders and that I did not want any credit facilities on the account.
They were as good as gold and within 15 minutes I had my debit in my hand. :D
Will keep you updated with this bank for those interested |
| xxxhustlerxxx | 01-23-2012 08:31 PM | current accounts have direct debit. savers and most cash accounts dont.
what did you open 'crafty' ? current? savers? cash?
OP opened a cash account. i cannot be 100% sure that metrobank cash account does not support direct debits as i have never used them. but the account is ment for people aged 11+ so my guess is there is no way it would be able to use direct debits.
there would be no problem with a metrobank current account. just not a cash account. |
| sasha | 01-23-2012 08:54 PM | It was a current account I believe. I just asked for an account that would support DD.
As long as you mention that you want DD facility then you should be OK. |
| sasha | 01-24-2012 04:17 AM | Just checked and it is a current account................ |
| JomJarr | 05-11-2012 02:20 PM | Sorry for not responding originally... the thread seemed to be off my list of posts a while back and I couldn't find it.
I was using MetroBank to try to pay for something and for some reason MetroBank didn't like the look of whatever type of transaction it was and so blocked it.. that raised alarm bells with PP and so the bank acc was deleted from my profile.
I think the basic cash account doesn't do Direct Debits which is fine for only using it for withdrawals (as many people have since noted how MetroBank is good for stealth) but may cause problems if you try to pay for stuff with it - which you obviously WONT be doing with a stealth account (this wasn't a stealth account I used it with - was set up before I got on here).
Shame really as it wasted a good account through lack of knowledge - still a handy bank account as they stay open till 8pm - maybe I'll see if they'd like to open me another for my err... savings. |
| Callidus | 05-11-2012 03:39 PM | Hold on so the info on it now is that this is OK to use with a STEALTH account right?
do they have BASIC accounts or does the current account require a credit check? |
| NoneOther | 05-11-2012 04:59 PM | Their basic accounts do not allow DD only their current account which like every other bank required a full credit check. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 05:09 AM. | |
