PayPal Limit at $1000

So for those of you who don't know, in Australia, all new PP accounts are limited if the balance hits $1000.

A customer made a major purchase from me recently, which jumped my balance to almost $1000 ($900+).

I then received the following email from PP. They claim that my account is currently limited, yet they state that I will still have full access to all of my account features.

In the resolution center, there is an option for me to upload ID. It doesn't seem as though they are making it necessary for me to provide the documents though as I haven't actually hit the $1000 mark.

Would I be fine if I don't upload the documents?

Here is the email I received:

-----

Your PayPal account balance is nearing $1000 AUD. When your balance reaches
this amount, we'll need to confirm your identity.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do I need to give PayPal more information?
We value your business and want to help you continue to use your account
with minimal disruption. But, just like a bank, we need to confirm your
identity to comply with Australian Anti-Money Laundering and
Counter-Terrorism Financing laws as outlined in our User Agreement and
Product Disclosure Statement. By confirming your identity, you'll help keep
PayPal a safe place to send and receive payments online.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What do I need to do?
We need you to provide proof of identity documents to help us confirm your
identity. Please log in to your PayPal account and go to the Resolution
Centre under "My Account" to find out what you need to submit.

Please provide these documents as soon as possible to avoid limitations
being placed on your account.

If your balance reaches $1000 AUD before we've completed this process, we
will be required to limit your access to many features of your PayPal
account. Any limits we place on your account will be removed within 2-3
business days of you completing the steps set out in the Resolution Centre,
and us confirming your information.

mmm this happened to me a couple years back (2007 i think), I freaked cause it was my first ever account, I thought I was i trouble big time. I instantly moved all my money out of that account and straight into my bank.
I didn't want to touch the account cause the whole "we need your ID" thing scared me I just made a new account (not using stealth, same IP but different name and bank etc), then I started hauling in some pretty serious cash on the new account and it got banned in about 2 months (not cause I went over $1000, i always made sure i stayed under $700,.

i got banned cause it was 'high risk' activity), I had actually used my first account a couple weeks ago to send $450 dollars into the new account cause I needed money on my paypal and the only the old account had a bank attached to it with $450 in the account, so I used that as a mule to slap some money into my new account. Anyways the new account got limited with $500 in it, so I was able to refund $450 back to myself into the old account.
After that I kinda realized that the whole ID thing wasn't a big deal, it was just kinda there if you are a big business abd going tohave over a 1000 in your account. So i went back to using the old account for a while till it got banned again.

Its a wonder they never got linked, I would log in and out on the same IP with same cookies and all.

But basically you should be right to keep using the account. its just a reminder that if you go over $1000 you could get limited so be prepared sorta.
But just incase you should clean out your account very often, you never know when paypal might limit, so always be prepared, nowdays I like to keep all my accounts under $200.

Pringles, to you have any further news. How is your paypal account doing?

I was stupid enough and forgot to trasfer the money from my paypal and it hit 800+ yesterday and I got exactly the same email that you got. I freaked out at first but then, as you stated already, I discovered that I still have full access to my account.
So now i'm wondering, if I hould just ignore their letter and keep going as normal, or should I send them what they need.

So, Pringles, if you could help out another aussi, I'd be extremely happy!!

You have AUSTRALIAN paypals do you?

If not thanks for the pointless post.:violin:

Thanks for all the above info ..
I have 3 stealth accounts at the moment .. all over 30 days old.
If i were to continue to use them to accept payments no more than $500 per month each and made a withdrawal once of month of about $400 (to keep the balance under $500) .. would it be safe to say I could continue doing so without being asked to provide ID?
(Assuming the $500 per month is made up of 4 or 5 transactions)..

I don't have Australian Paypals either. Account limitation at $1000? Never heard of that!

Bluebirds, Tommydebest

I have the same problem I got a warning, with a limitation to closing the account, nothing more for the moment (I was accidentally close to 1000 AUD but didn't reach it.)

Can anyone confirm that if I keep my balance under 1000 AUD my account will not get limited?
or there is timeframe for the limitation if no documents were provided?
