| | Best Merchant a/c for Uk, instead of PayPal Which is a good merchant a/c for the UK, so you don't have to login into ****pal to accept ****pal payments, is nochex good and do you sign up with the same info as in the ebay/****pal a/c? |
| mantisinc | 04-25-2008 01:28 AM | Lucy, for starters, you need to accept paypal on all listings, now, it's compulsory. So the likelyhood is people WILL pay by paypal. If you also accept credit card, expect to get about 1 in 50 orders paid through CC.
Anyway I use nochex, and it really is fantastic. Got a nice ebay integration code for your email, and no problems at all with their service. Was going really well with it before the compulsory paypal came in. |
so you HAVE to use ****pal only and nothing else, I don't want to use ****pal, because buyers can mess around with you filing false claims and your money is on hold or you get chargebacks, i'm not going to use ****pal, i hate it |
| scouse12345 | 04-25-2008 07:21 PM | Lucy..... bet U use It... :) |
| mantisinc | 04-26-2008 11:46 AM | I know Lucy, it's frustrating. But you have to ACCEPT it, alongside other payment methods if you wish. |
they can't force me to use ****pal, i'm using nochex instead, won't get any hold on payments or silly buyers disputes! |
| GreenBean | 04-26-2008 06:41 PM | Great Of course sounds great. Except that you will not even be able to sell or buy on eBay without offering it. It is a requirement now, regardless of what you feel about paypal. |
are you saying i HAVE to use paypal for EVERY item i plan on selling, if thats the case, thats just plain wrong, can't i just open a uk merchant a/c instead and not take paypal |
| mantisinc | 04-27-2008 05:46 AM | Lucy, this is the situation:
Paypal is now compulsory in the UK on all items. So you have to accept paypal, otherwise it will not let you list an item. Moreover, you have to accept a verified business or premier account. So your paypal account will have to have a verified credit card, bank account and phone number on it.
Alongside paypal, you can also accept other payment methods, including cheque, postal order and credit card. However, the fact that the world has been mindwashed into thinking paypal is such a secure payment method, everyone uses paypal. So even if you do accept other payment methods alongside paypal, few people will use these.
At the end of the day, paypal is only viable payment method now on ebay. |
| GreenBean | 04-27-2008 06:03 AM | Arrgh! mantis, Bravo.:D Forgive me I have not read your guide since Friday {seriously} but do I correctly recall that you have stated this? Maybe you might think of underlining the words so all the new UK users understand?;) Any suggestions?
:)Lucy, this is not just you. There seems to be a glitch in the understanding that paypal is now being forced on to users. It pertains to two countries as of now. |
why are we being forced to use paypal if we don't want to use it, wheres the logic in that, its ridiculous and wrong, i think the goverment or maybe the oft is being bribed by ebay, paypal or its owners to not take action against its illegal working methods and turn a blind eye to it, if ebay or paypal were owned by some other persons from a different country or its founders were from a different country than the one they originate from this goverment would have made ebay/ppal practices illegal and fined them, just like microsoft has been fined, its a political situation as well |
| mantisinc | 04-28-2008 12:08 PM | Hey, you should try using full stops, they are great thing :)
I know it's annoying, but it's their own policy on their own auction site using their own payment method, so they CAN do it. Just something you have to now accept and move on. |
| aspkin | 04-29-2008 06:59 PM | Just disable the auto invoice eBay sends buyers and send an invoice from a merchant account you want to use instead. This isn't the best fix, but it works. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 05:10 PM. | |
