A heads up in regards to VCC card numbers ...

Just to let you know, it looks like eBay is cracking down on VCC card numbers. If you for example have the card number 5555-4444-3333-2222 and it was previously used by someone else, even with a different expiration date, eBay will hit your account with a MC115 Identity Confirmation suspension.

I set-up new accounts all the time and noticed that some were getting suspended within 48 hours of being created, while others were fine without problems. I spoke to the VCC bank that issues my card numbers and asked them if the cards had been previously used. They couldn't tell me if the cards had been used on eBay before, but all cards whose accounts were suspended were "issued" to someone else before, while all the never before issued card numbers didn't get any accounts suspended.

So eBay is definitely, in my opinion, cracking down on VCC card numbers that were previously used with other accounts. Just as a heads up, because adding previously used numbers to a good account will get it suspended.

Nice heads up - even though the chances of getting rehashed numbers is small, I guess with the volume of vcc's that are issued...you could run into this problem.

For my bank, it seems they're re-using card numbers quite regularely (have a small pool), or lots of people are using them for eBay (also very likely). About 30-40% of the cards I get now get the limitation.

I always use vanilla visa card to verified my paypal but one thing that bothering me is that sometimes the first 8 numbers are the same and expiration dates are the same as well. just wondering if this will cause the linking problem between accounts?

I have never seen a the same numbers used twice on a giftcard. Ebay can not link u just cause 8 #s are the same  it would have to be 16 #'s the same and exp date as well as the cvv code. The vcc's imjustme uses is bank gen vcc's this is why they rehash the #'s i even bet they rehash bank account #'s as well.

The first 8 numbers, they can't link you. But eBay apparently now links accounts that use the same card number, even with different expiration dates and CVV codes.

Makes sense, in a way. Before, someone with a normal credit card could just ask his bank for a new expiration date and then sign-up for a new account. Obviously VCCs are affected by this as well. Now eBay asks for identity verification if you use the same card number that was previously used on another account.

I've seen that happen in the past, a couple times with the old HDFC Indian bank vcc's but never seen that happen with any gift card's yet and that's out of 100's.
