| | | yotano211 | 02-15-2012 07:36 PM | Does anybody bother to answers questions with so many stealth accounts Well like the questions says.
I am finding myself making and selling on more and more stealth accounts. But I was thinking with even more stealth accounts will I even bother answering questions on so many. I know it's very important to respond back, if not lose a potential client. But with more and more stealth accounts I don't feel like answering so many questions on items that I sell. I am managing many accounts and have little time. I just want to print label, package, and ship it out.
So what is everyone's respond to this or even give your own experience or advice if any. |
| Daveski | 02-15-2012 07:43 PM | Tell me this, do you sell full time or part time ? |
| degsey69 | 02-15-2012 07:44 PM | That's one way in getting some of your stealth accounts closed, good customer communication is essential at all times, if you want your business to grow keep talking to the folks. |
| seanws30 | 02-15-2012 07:46 PM | think it really depends on what you sell and how well you describe it too.
if you are selling one item over and over, and keep getting repeated questions, maybe you need to re-think your descriptions |
| yotano211 | 02-15-2012 07:47 PM | I am starting to sell full time again, full time job and part time student.
I see where you are coming from but I dont like answering the same question all the time. "will this hard drive fit in my laptop, and here my model *****, and blah blah". |
| Thankful | 02-15-2012 07:52 PM | I think answering questions comes with customer service, understandable that you may have many accounts to deal with, but think of it this way, Happy customers = More Money, i'd suggest you make some template replies for similar questions, i'm sure you'll prob get some repeat questions, so a template would be a good start.
Depends your attitude to selling, all part of business. |
| degsey69 | 02-15-2012 08:08 PM | I would rather answer stupid questions, specially with computer hardware ( I should know I had a business selling it for 20 years) then to get returns and negative feedback and low dsr's, all of which are costly to the seller. |
| yotano211 | 02-15-2012 08:27 PM | With desktops its pretty simple if the hard drive fits, either IDE or SATA. With laptops the game changes 100%. You have 1.8 and 2.5 inch drives, then with 2.5' drives there is 9mm or 12mm size hard drives. Then you have the many different laptop models that changes with each region of the world.
BTW, most laptop hard drive sizes are 9mm 2.5 inch in size.
I will look into getting a template going. |
| degsey69 | 02-15-2012 10:06 PM | Just put more information in the description, that may stop a lot of the stupid questions. |
use a iphone and respond back on gmail it's easy but i know what you mean sometimes i ignore the questions because it's in the ad and they buy anyways |
| newjerseymax | 02-15-2012 11:56 PM | I was told by rep that question response time is included in risk factors for accounts. They are timed. On my accounts there is a big red marker telling me that a customer has asked a question. If this was included in the development and updates then I am fairly sure eb thinks it is important
So yea answer all of them and as fast as possible.
It only makes sense. You in a way represent ebay, by not answering questions they look bad.

:ballchain: | oh wow i did not know about answering respond time with ebay, I only thought it was with Amazon only. But I don't sell on Amazon anymore after they banned my last account 5 months ago. If that is the case I will answer all the questions that come my way. I don't need more heat on any accounts.
Wow, I learned something very good today. Who says you have to be school smart to learn something. Even the dumbest person learns from the streets. |

I like my phones like I like my woman, cheap but not too cheap, and plz no married ones. |
| baloch | 02-16-2012 12:48 AM | enter in the description in Bold on what model of laptops the harddrive fits or anything else. If they are asking the same question then it should be in your description in bold big letters. This would stop 90% of those questions. I try to include everthing on my listings so I don't get alot of questions |
| Sandy D | 02-16-2012 12:55 AM | I put as much info as I can in the description. I still get questions and do not want a poor dsr for communication if they end up buying something and I did not answer them.
If I am reading your thoughts correctly either you plan on losing the account or burning the account as most rock solid stealth accounts are built on you doing everything well, not just part of the work like not answering questions. |
keeping up with the questions is quite time consuming but if you wanna be/ act like a"real" person then you are going to have to log in to every single one of them and answer or see what they ask for most frequently and maybe describe the items better to avoid so many questions. Sometimes if you are so fed up or don't find time to do it all ,list less and maybe let other accounts take a week break and give yourself some time.

| slapped | 02-16-2012 02:19 AM | I have been selling for a LOOONG time,,and from my experience I can tell you that anwsering questions contributes to your success,,,NO DOUT,,
So what I do is take a page out of Ebay & Amazons Playbook,,,
After a little time selling the same items you will learn how to include the right information on your descriptions (on Ebay) to minimize the questions,,,what you will then be left with are a few questions that are asked very often,,,so have proper "Canned" or ready made responses ready to go,,,this method is nearly FOOL PROOF when it comes to customer complaints,,,It seem thaty People ALWAYS complain about the same thing,,,
Then when "That" question or complaint is asked,,Copy, Paste, and Send the response,,,you would be surprised at how quick and easy, and effective this method really is,,,
I have been doing this for years,,,works like a Charm,,,ask ebay or Amazon , I bet they will agree |

I will look into getting a template going. | Above post is why you need to understand the importance of commuication.
You are assuming buyers know this. They do not.
They are looking for assurance from the seller that their idea to buy a new hard-drive had merit. They do not want to know the seller thinks they are an ass.
Template sounds good. Tempt them to make return sales.:thumb: |
answering questions is good business practice
you look after your customers and they will look after you |

As for the whole replying to custoner questions issue, I only bother if I think they are likely to buy...
When I do respond, I like to respond via email. Because of this, on eBay it looks as though I dont respond to any questions at all, which according to what others have said, must be terrible for my account |
| newjerseymax | 02-17-2012 09:26 AM | Even though everything about shipping is clarified step by step on my page and ebay has the shipping tab. Most questions I find are about shipping.
Sometimes people ask about "combined shipping" costs on free shipping items... |
| mercurial333 | 02-17-2012 04:14 PM | I ignore most pre-sale questions :)
Those who ask question prior to a sale are trouble.
Also you have the clueless buyers who ask 5 questions, and then somebody else snags it, lol. |
| yotano211 | 02-17-2012 04:57 PM | I am not going to ignore any questions anymore. I don't want my accounts looking like Walmart where all the employes are clueless about their own products. |

I once got a negative feedback because buyer stated "it was too hard to use"... "it" was a portable hard drive... So now if the question is out in left field, I will block them. But this is rare. |
| mercurial333 | 02-20-2012 01:25 AM | Ask buy.com a question on Ebay. You'll maybe receive a response in 3-5 days, and then they'll tell you to check the manufacturers website or do your own research, lmao. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 04:43 PM. | |
