| Etycoon | 02-16-2012 12:54 PM | DHL shipping & vero Hey guys
"Security check the contents of this package has been checked by a DHL Staff member for security purposes in the presence of the shipper'
What the hell is this, and if they did this why didn't they seize the package |
DHL checked it - they don't necessarily seize - that's the Customs officer's job. |
I've had about 3-4 packages opened like on a corner or two but never seized. You should be fine, half the time they just open up for a quick check, there are too many packages for them to check completely.
Now I did have 2 packages seized once at LAX which was a huge mistake on the shipper for sending them there in the first place.
It's all a gamble guys, we win more than we lose sometimes, just gotta roll with the punches. |
| Gamefreak | 03-05-2012 03:38 AM | DHL is required to check all packages for whatever reason. All my package come with a sticker ( red ) that says its been checked by DHL.
You have nothing to worry about with that once customers checks it it will be tapped with green tape. |
| bigbill | 03-05-2012 03:41 AM | I have had the same with vero items, opened and sealed back up with tape. Don't know why they weren't confiscated either, as they were blateantly marked up as being something else on the declaration form! |
| teedon | 03-06-2012 04:49 AM | It is fine for DHL staff to check the packages and they won't care the content are vero or not and they won't tell this to custom .Because it is none of their business,if they tell the custom about the content ,they may lost many business and this sure will affect their jobs a lot.
There are 50% of packages are vero |
| HurricaneHuntr | 03-06-2012 08:55 PM | Same thing here.. it's the green hmeland s cutity tape.
If china can vero items... why can't they vero the tape? Maybe the officers say oh we already checked that?
Also received some EMS that feels like its sprayed with some kinda aerosol maybe it was just humidity..... or maybe it's a new anti scanner stuff? |
| Recherché | 03-07-2012 07:37 PM | Yep. Some of my next-to-last shipment was opened from DHL staff about two weeks ago. No problem as it was still delivered to me. However, my last order is presently on hold. For customs inspection. I knew something was awry as it has been on hold for three days now.
I called this morning so I know once inspected by customs it WILL get seized. This will be the first seizure at this address. That sucks because that money was to be used to buy Jaguar a neighbor was going to sell to me. Now I have to wait to get seizure letter to get items delivered to different address. |
Funny thing is I've never had the "Green" Tape or any other Tape on my packages. I only have 1 supplier that ships DHL but they have never put any tape on my boxes, I assume that Customs never checked them? The time I've had corners opened they just would leave em open. I guess it's a good thing that they never actually opened the boxes all the way. |

| say what? How so? Am I missing something by this statement? |
| download3000 | 03-08-2012 03:54 AM | its regular stuff this happend to my package it i finally got it after about a week of waiting. |
| Callidus | 03-08-2012 04:56 AM | I just had 200 pcs of vero product delivered. DHL always put that extra effort to get the parcels through customs... if you didnt know they actually have a very close relationship with customs!
If a parcel is opened by DHL I really wouldnt worry as teedon said, if they tell customs about it they will lose future business, which is very true. Also, teedon is right I bet half of the 10's of thousands of packages per day are ALL vero!
I have no doubt about that at all |

On what proof are you basing this statement? My own experiences with personal purchases only as well as other folks' experiences don't support this. |
| Gamefreak | 03-08-2012 02:58 PM | The really do seem to have some type of relationship wit customs. My experience if they have their requested information about you ( EIN/SSN ) that they ask for when you import too much ****! they will simply send you a bill and let the packages go through without any problems.
Only times ive had problems is when stupid suppliers use Ny name instead of my business name which DHL has on record and send import fees to.. |
| jeffweico | 03-08-2012 08:46 PM | I think the point is being missed.
DHL/UPS/FedEx/EMS, etc. do NOT seize packages - ever. As long as you are not shipping something that is dangerous to them or their employees, they could care less what the packages contain. It is CUSTOMS who seizes the packages. Having said that, some customs offices are more vigilant than others, but blaming the shipper is really misplaced.
I think that SUPPLIERS actually have more to do with it in terms of the paperwork they include and the way they package the goods. Some suppliers almost NEVER have a seizure. Others seems to have every other shipment pulled. |

I called DHL and the representative said customs is holding it to be inspected by them. Did yours also say shipment on hold? My supplier said not to worry...but he always says that. |
| jamblix | 03-08-2012 11:40 PM | Why do you guys use DHL? Why not EMS, never had a shipment seized through EMS. I've been getting shipments for nearly 2 years without a single seizure and my last one was through DHL. Lucky? I'm not that lucky... |
| lhall5422 | 03-09-2012 02:10 AM | Ems seems to take alot longer. I have had some packages take 2 months! They were on hold as well. |
| teedon | 03-09-2012 05:30 AM | 2 months? It is not acceptable as you pay express shipping fee but the speed is lower than by sea . |
| unkown5454 | 03-09-2012 11:06 AM | 2 months means your supplier sucks, not EMS. |
| lhall5422 | 03-09-2012 01:32 PM | Could have been supplier but I checked tracking and kept saying it was at outbound customs or whatever. They reshipped dhl and it got to me couple weeks before original order. I figured it may have gotten lost or somin. Ever since, I have used dhl and had no probs :amen: |
