flynumber.com looks really promising... I'll have to check them out. I used CallCentric in the past, but the recurring part an prorated monthly billing didn't work for me. I only want to add my virtual number to google voice and then verify a few new eb accounts.

yep just like alot of people I use flynumber but used to follow a strict plan.

1) get a $25 gift card
2) signup for free trials on all major companies like tollfreeforwarding or nextiva.
3) I usually sign up for about 5 so I get 5 numbers then use the $25 offline at Timhortons.
4) so cost comes to $1 and the numbers are live from 7 to 30days depending on trial period

Free forwarding numbers sounds like a load of BS to me and at the least it sounds risky. Use flynumber and you won't be sorry. They are dirt cheap and reliable. $2.95 for US numbers, no setup fee. $0.03 cents per minute.

How long does it take flynumber to give you a number, been waiting over 12hrs

It is. Also, if you're not planning to keep the line active (although you should), then you should turn off auto-renew for each number after signing up

I didn't know about that at first, but the owner was such a bro he gave me credits for the renewal as well as letting me use the numbers for the remaining month =}
