Creating Ghost Amazon account with dial-up connection
 

Hi,

I will try to create a Amazon Ghost account with a dial-up connection on a virtual machine but I have questions before.

The Ghost book says : "Before you connect using dial-up, make sure that you disable all other adapters in your system under device manager or that you physically remove extra adapters you are not using."

Does it mean I have to disable all that is under "Network adapters"?

I have :
- Intel Pro/1000 MT Network Connection
- Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter

How to physically remove extra adapters? Does it mean I just have to unplug the DSL modem?

You would have to disable DSL modem by unplugging it or removing cable/wire connected to your computer from it. The only other adapter I can think of is maybe if you had wireless router. Be sure to go to ipburger.com and check your ip address before logging into amazon.

From what I understand "Intel Pro/1000 MT Network Connection" is the Ethernet Card inside the laptop so I will have to disable it in device manager, and I will also unplug the combined modem/router.

Is your ethernet card wireless? If not, I would not worry about disabling it since, during the dial-up, it's not active. I WOULD however physically remove any ethernet cable.

If it IS wireless, yes disable and turn that wifi button off.

just to be on the safe side, i would disable the adapters whether wireless or wired.

@Chan So how was your experience using dial up with virtual machines? I am attempting this method this coming weekend and want to see how you liked it and/or if you came across with any issues..

I used dial up for a long time and it worked very well.

All I did was turn the wi fi off every time.

Most important thing is to train yourself to always double check the wi fi button before you click on the eb or pp sign in.

Yes I have a wireless network adapter that I've just disabled because I never use wifi, yes I would unplug the ethernet cable too.


I agree I will remove both.
