| | | HurricaneHuntr | 03-13-2012 04:08 PM | Got a letter from Nationwide. Seems that closing 5 over the last 1.5 years flagged me. They are closing my 4 accounts, yes i said that right... 4 accounts LOL.. Gonna chat with them tomorrow, maybe i can talk with them in loss control department. The CS rep said he doesn't see any notes on the account, so if i can chat with them this maybe can be resolved.
They are gonna ask me why. Tips on what to say? |
| Gamefreak | 03-13-2012 04:48 PM | Suspicious activity. Also the guys on here said you should only be closing 1 every 6 months.. |
| HurricaneHuntr | 03-13-2012 04:52 PM | Yeah but, what is my excuse? |
| baloch | 03-13-2012 04:53 PM | excuse: you lost your job or had little income comming in so there was not point in keeping that many accounts. |
| jamblix | 03-13-2012 05:55 PM | Make the move over to BofA never have problem this bank free checking too. Close and open plenty of BofA accounts and accept deposits under diff names, they never ask or interfere with anything. I had a chat with a rep asking how many accounts I can have open and he said infinite, of course it would be a bit suspicious having 20+ checking accounts.
^ That's a good excuse. I would probably say something like I had an open account for gas purchases, groceries, bills, etc. to keep better track of everything but, things got too complicated so I decided to consolidate. |
| HurricaneHuntr | 03-13-2012 07:47 PM | I also have BOFA i try to keep my accounts around 4-5 per bank. So i don't lose it all at once if something happens.. Like it did back in the day with Ally... |

| Sneakee | 03-13-2012 08:15 PM | Hum....
I didn't know a bank would do that as long as they let you open the accounts.
What do you do when they close your accounts? Do they give you a few days to get your funds out or something?
I'm trying to think of an excuse that would make sense... |
| HurricaneHuntr | 03-13-2012 08:32 PM | I have a good one, but i don't wanna sound stupid....
i have OCD and when an account reaches a certain amount i cannot function unless i close it.
LOL? |
| baloch | 03-13-2012 11:00 PM | ^^ that sound so wrong think of something else as I do think many people would go for it. |
| newjerseymax | 03-13-2012 11:32 PM | Savings or Checking? You could say you "planned" on saving for each kids college, but lost your income or something like that...
I have 20 kids :boink: |
| Sneakee | 03-14-2012 05:51 AM | How about...
"Hi sir, I see you are closing my accounts due to my closing a certain limit of accounts with the last 2 years. I'm very disappointed about this and had no idea I was breaking any rules. As you can see from my account activity, there is nothing illegal going on with my trasnsactions.
I opened the accounts due to a savings plan I read about in a book titled "Saving for Dummies". They recommended opening multiple accounts for different reasons. After some time though, I found them too difficult to manage and had to close some of them.
I would very much appreciate if you don't close the remaining ones. I am currently using those and to do so would be a bit of pain for me. I would love to be able to stay in your establishment with my current accounts. I am sticking with the number of accounts I have now.
I do hope you reconsider.
Sincerely,
Moscutter" |
| HurricaneHuntr | 03-14-2012 05:58 AM | Good sneakee, but i'm gonna leave out the nothing illegal part, this was done because of opening/closing accounts. i think they can see nothing illegal was being done and it wasn't ever an accusation. |
| Sneakee | 03-14-2012 06:12 AM | Oh cool. I've always found more comfortable pleading my case in email rather than on the phone. Hopefully you can email them and they will respond quickly. If they don't respond quickly I would call.
I've never had to deal with what you're dealing with but I do have a history of arguing with big corporations  |
| HurricaneHuntr | 03-14-2012 06:33 AM | Yeah... i hate the phone too, but they also never emailed me anything, my accounts are active and working fine. No restrictions. Ill have a chat with her, i wish i could email but i don't think that's an option |
| Sneakee | 03-14-2012 07:00 AM | Whenever I do something like that I write down what I want to say in bullet form. It helps me to remember what my argument is and any questions I might have. :fight:
Good luck man. I'm curious to see if you can get it worked out. :thumb: |
| HurricaneHuntr | 03-14-2012 02:06 PM | xxxxxxxx reviewed your request to reconsider the closure of your accounts and your relationship with xxxxxxxxxx some other stuff about opening/closing too many etc...
Additionally, the transaction activity observed within these accounts is not consistent with standard living expenses for a consumer checking account.
Based on the above information, our initial action of account closure within ten business days still stands.

Not the end of the world.
