This is a first for me

I had a buyer last week open a case that something I sold him is now broken. He opened the case on the 44th day. I usually dont even bother with that stuff so I just refunded him and moved on.

Today I got this email from ebay

"It looks like the buyer didn't contact you before opening the case, or did contact you but didn't give you enough time to reply.

Since you were able to resolve the case once you knew there was a problem, this case won't affect your seller performance rating.

We appreciate that you took care of this quickly, and wish you success in all your selling on eBay.

Thanks,

eBay"

Anyone got this before? If its new then great it will fall in line with my business practice.

These rare, occasional, out of nowhere, you hardly see, once in a blue moon, lightning strike "we have your back" situations I see on here from time to time should be more policy than what appears to be random shots in the dark

If the system is setup for these things, why don't we see them more is my question. Crap like this is so odd it comes as a surprise. What does that say....

I've got that msg on 2 older accounts before, not recently.

I get a similar message when the buyer opens an "item not received case" and I immediately refund them. I definitely remember the part that says "It looks like the buyer didn't contact you before opening the case, or did contact you but didn't give you enough time to reply." I've gotten this message maybe 2 or 3 times, probably like 1-2 months ago.

One guy in Brazil told me he hadn't received the item yet and I told him I would call the post office and let him know what they tell me, he opened the case within like 1 minute without replying and the next day I called the post office and then refunded him that day, and even though I did reply to the buyer the day before I still got that message and it didn't count as an opened case in my seller ratings.

So almost instant no questions asked refunds on claims gets you a pass? How very sporting of them.

I have had this happen twice.

Once they handed them to money after the email from buyer stated she did not open it for 25+ days.

The other one she opened it 30 days after she got it and filed that is was broken and not as described. I battled this one and won because I sent an email to the buyer that I would gladly accept the item back if you ship it within 3 days of this claim. She waited another 10 days and they ruled in my favor.

She is still trying to get her money from me. Not going to happen!!!
